Palm Beach 55:

Easy-Riding Downeast Design

Palm Beach 55
Palm Beach 55

Conventional boating wisdom is that only deep-V boats can provide a smooth ride on plane in rough water, but the Palm Beach 55, a handsome Downeast design with only 8-degrees of deadrise, delivered an impressive ride in some very rough seas during our test runs. And, less V aft means more fuel-efficient performance, as well as less tendency to rock and roll in beam seas. Note the sharp forefoot, which cuts through seas easily.

For Long-Range Fishing Missions

Renaissance Prowler 42
Renaissance Prowler 42

With quad 300-hp Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboards, the Renaissance Prowler 42 is a fast way to get offshore, with top speed reportedly approaching 70 mph. A boat with this speed capability and the twin hull design opens new vistas for anglers, allowing a run to the reefs and ledges of the Bahamas and back to Miami in a single day, among many other options. The Evinrude E-TEC G2 300s have no dealer scheduled maintenance for five years or 500 hours, whichever comes first.

Ocean Alexander 90R Motoryacht:

Form Follows Function and Adds Utility

Ocean Alexander 90R Motoryacht
Ocean Alexander 90R Motoryacht

The Ocean Alexander 90R—for Revolution—is appropriately named. It’s a collaborative design between the offices of Evan K. Marshall and Arrabito Naval Architects, both world-renowned for yacht design and naval engineering. The exterior line of the yacht is a real avant-garde head-turner, and the exceptionally high bow should also make her a good open sea boat. She’s available with an open bridge design, as well as with the fully-enclosed sky lounge as shown here, making all-weather command from topside a lot more comfortable.
