Captain's Report

A New Look For Tiara's 3500 Open!

If you’re looking for a versatile cruiser in the 35 express class of boats and you want quality as well as seaworthiness, then take a look at Tiara’s 3500 Open. It features new sloping sheer lines, a great layout, and superb fit and finish to produce a great cruising vessel that is seaworthy, comfortable, and versatile.
With its 35’6” length overall and its solid deep vee hull design, the Tiara 3500 Open charges across the open water with confidence and grace. The express style hull coupled with the sloping sheer lines give the 3500 Open a distinct profile that is commended and respected out on the water.
The integrated bow pulpit with anchor roller makes anchoring easy and adds to the attractive style of the boat. There’s a large anchor locker forward for line or chain and the walkways down each side are non-skidded and protected by high bow rails for added security.
The deck hatches are low in profile and provide light for the cabin interior. The hatches are neatly placed in the foredeck, which is large and great for sunning or handling lines.
The windshield provides for good lines of sight both fore and aft while navigating, and the integral hardtop affords great protection from the elements and adds to the seaworthiness of this craft. There’s even a windshield vent to keep things cool while underway.
The helm is well laid out with controls, gauges, and optional electronics being within easy range. The helm features an electric helm seats that’s perfect for sitting or standing when operating the boat.
In the sole of the bridge deck you’ll find an engine room access hatch that’s convenient for quick sight checks while underway. To port there’s an L-shaped lounge seat for guests and crew alike, and just aft of the helm is a convenient wet bar with sink and ice maker beneath to prepare all your favorite beverages.
The cockpit features a comfortable aft bench with storage beneath, non-skid gunnels with flush mount rod holders, washdowns, a wide transom door for swim platform access, and integrated dive ladder.
The salon seating is great for entertaining and it converts into an upper single and lower double berth when staying aboard. The galley is opposite the settee and features great storage and convenience when preparing meals or snacks. The master berth is forward and placed diagonally for additional leg room and comfort. The head is full sized and features a vanity and shower stall.
With a wide beam of 13’3” and a weight of 14,000 lbs the 3500 Open is a rugged cruiser that will enable you to cruise to your destination in style while providing safety and comfort. The additional hardtop provides for great weather protection and adds to the offshore capability of this boat.
On our test runs we recorded a top speed of 36 mph with the pair of Cummins 370 Diamond Series diesels. Best cruise was determined to be 25.2 mph giving us a range of nearly 400 miles based on the 360 gallon fuel cell. Our test conditions were rather rough yet the 3500 showed no stress or concern for the high winds and large seas that we encountered while testing.
