Standard Horizon VHF GX2400-B Radio

Standard Horizon VHF GX2400-B Radio

The Standard Horizon VHF GX2400 B Radio includes an Automatic Identification System (AIS), GPS and is NMEA 2000 compliant for ease of installation and seamless integration with existing technology aboard.

Every boater who navigates on coastal waters or the Great Lakes can add greatly to the safety of their boat and their crew with an AIS transponder that will alert all similarly-equipped vessels to their location and heading. The units are particularly important for those who cross shipping and ferry lanes or who operate at night or in bad weather.

Even if the other AIS boats are not keeping an eye on their system, yours allows you to see them, to note their heading, and usually to contact them by VHF by name to clarify any confusion about who is going where and when. (Basically, you stay out of the way of the Big Boys, but your AIS signal will make it more likely that they see you long before coming too close is an issue.)

A Navigation Backup

Because the GX2400 B includes GPS, it can function as a navigational backup should your primary GPS system fail.

The unit includes GPS compass, waypoint and status pages, and allows you to enter, save and navigate to a waypoint using the compass page. Navigation info including LAT/LON, Time, Speed Over Ground (SOG) and Course over Ground (COG) information is also available.

Keep Your Secret Spots Secret

It includes an integrated voice scrambler, making it possible to share fishing spots or other confidential data with friends while still keeping them secure from other listeners.

It has second station capability using the wired RAM4 or wireless RAM4W (when used with the optional SCU-30 WiFi Module). It also supports NOAA Weather Channels with weather alerts.

Hooking up the Standard Horizon GX2400 B is simple and intuitive — it’s basically plug-and-play with the appropriate connectors.

Ready to Stand the Weather

It has a waterproof rating of IPX8, which means it can survive being completely submerged to a depth of 5’ (1.5 M) for up to 30 minutes. This makes it suitable for surface mounting on center consoles and other open locations, though electronics always do best if kept out of the salt, of course. Flush mount dimensions are 6.3" x 2.6" x 6.2" (161 x 65 x 157 mm).
