Intrepid 345 Nomad

With twin 425-hp Yamaha XTOs, the Intrepid 345 Nomad is predictably fast with a WOT of 62.9 mph in our test runs. At a 3500-rpm cruise, she ran 31.8 mph and got 1.4 mpg for a range of about 350 SM with the 350-gallon (1,325 L) fuel capacity. She comes standard with the fiberglass T-top and full height wraparound glass, providing wind and spray protection at the helm. Heavily-padded bolsters for both the captain and a companion help ease the ride at speed. More...

Neptunus 650 Express:
Well-Lit Engine Room for the Owner/Operator

Neptunus 650 Express
Neptunus 650 Express

The Neptunus 650 Express has an engine room that shows off the level of attention to detail in this quality build. This is a well-lit, clean space with all of the equipment laid out in an orderly fashion around the twin 1,136-hp Caterpillar C18 diesels. If an owner/operator being comfortable means better engine checks, this mechanical space will help ensure good maintenance with 6’4” (1.93 m) headroom and a 26” (66 cm) walkway between the engines. The layout makes it easy to spot issues before they turn into problems, and sea strainers, oil filters and dipsticks, fuel-water separators, electrical panels, and other service points are all within range of an easy glance. Safety Basics

Good Seamanship Under Bridges

uscg report
It looks safe to blast under this bridge at full throttle – but that could be a deadly mistake.

Bridge safety is rarely discussed, but it is something that all boaters should think about every time they approach a bridge – no matter if there is a no-wake sign or not. First is the matter of good boating etiquette: mind your wake and how it may affect other boats. Second is good seamanship and defensive driving. There may be a small jon boat with someone fishing unseen on the far side of the bridge. Need we say more? See the video...
