Stamford, CT Boat Show
***By Invitation Only***

BOAT NAME
The new Harbor Point Boat Show will be held Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Stamford, CT just five blocks south of I-95. Free parking is nearby along with valet service.

BoatTEST is a co-sponsor of the new Harbor Point Boat Show that will be held in just 15 days in Stamford Harbor.

All BoatTEST Members are eligible to receive a FREE INVITATION for themselves and their family. There will be no general admission – it is an invitation-only boat show, the only one held in the U.S. In addition to over 15 brands of boats on display, there will be exotic cars to view and a concert each evening in a waterside, open-air theater. Because the show hours are 12 noon to 10 pm, getting to and from on I-95 will miss both morning and evening rush hour traffic. Plus, there shouldn’t be any congestion or lines at the show.

The exclusive nature of the show will be matched with VIP lounges and cocktail parties at various venues. There are eight nearby restaurants situated around the boat show and our staff will be glad to make reservations for you.

Capt. Steve and other BoatTEST captains will be on hand at BoatTEST’s booth for a consultation about any of the boats in the show, as well as about any of the boats that have been reviewed by BoatTEST.

CLA 76 Flybridge:
Engine Room Designed to Tame Sound

Cheoy Lee CLA 76 Flybridge
Cheoy Lee CLA 76 Flybridge

Perhaps the reason that the CLA 76’s engine room is so impressive is because Cheoy Lee is so deeply involved in building commercial vessels for many applications all over the world. As a result, its engineers are well acquainted with all of the major ship building standards. Little wonder that their engines never fail to score high marks by our testing captains. The 76 we tested was powered by twin Caterpillar C18 ACERTs placed 42” (106.7 cm) apart, unusually wide for a boat of this size. Because she has a 19’8” (5.99 m) beam, there is plenty of room both between the engines — 47" (119 cm) — and outboard, so operators can easily get around for maintenance. Headroom is 6’6” (1.98 m) in most areas. More...

Scarab 255 Open ID:
Innovative Twin Jet w/Fold Out Swim Platform

Scarab 255 Open ID
Scarab 255 Open ID

The fold-down transom/swim platform is just one of several innovative features of the Scarab 255 Open ID, a twin-jet powered center console that makes an ideal watersports platform. An optional telescoping swim ladder makes reboarding easier. The aft-facing seats can become forward-facing by reversing the seatbacks, or the whole area can become a sun lounge by removing the backs altogether and placing them up front as part of chaise-type seating there. The Marine Mat shown here is also an option, one we’d recommend. More...

Equipment Tips

All About Livewells for Offshore Boats

BOAT NAME
Livewells are an incredibly important piece of onboard equipment. Read our guide to find the right livewell for your boat.

Some offshore fishing boats have some surprisingly small livewells, and that can be a real downer when the owner discovers it. A well-designed and equipped livewell of the right size is central to success in many types of coastal fishing. Check out this feature on the right wells for the right baits to chase a wide variety of saltwater gamefish. It may affect your next boat-buying decision, whether you fish shrimp for sea trout or 10-lb. (4.5 kg) bonito for blue marlin. If you need an aftermarket well added to your cockpit, a new pump, LED lighting and other features, we cover that as well. More...

Beneteau Gran Turismo 46:
Swinging Salon Doors & Pivoting Seats

Beneteau Gran Turismo 46
Beneteau Gran Turismo 46

Among the interesting features on the Beneteau Gran Turismo 46 are her port and starboard two-part swinging doors with pivoting outboard/inside seats. The design serves two important purposes. First, it allows the aft end of the coupe to be completely open from one side of the cabin to the other. The settees in the aft end of the salon pivot inward, creating a “rounded” salon door effect – something we usually only see on large, very expensive motoryachts. More...

Boston Whaler 250 Outrage:
Integrated Multi-Function Hardtop

Boston Whaler 250 Outrage
Boston Whaler 250 Outrage

The hardtop is an option most buyers of the Boston Whaler 250 Outrage will want to include, thanks to the multiple available features including mounts for Taco outriggers, radar and radio antennas, and rod holders. A bow and cockpit floodlight, a two-color (red/white) dome light, an electronics box, and lifejacket storage are also part of the packages available. Note the safety glass all around the console that helps keep things dry and how the supports for the top are integrated into the console. This not only looks much better than an add-on top but it also preserves space and allows easier passage from bow to stern. She is, after all, in every way, a premium quality boat. More...

ULTRA Anchor:
Trouble-Free Anchors from 11 to 800 Pounds

ULTRA Anchor
ULTRA Anchor

The stainless-steel ULTRA Anchor lands in the correct position every time, thanks to a lead-filled tip. It usually digs in within its own length in good holding ground. The more pull, the more it digs in. The anchor works in sand, mud, gravel and rocky bottoms. Because of its design, it always lands ready to dig in and cannot be fouled by its chain. It is available in weights of 11 to 800 lbs. (5 to 362 kg). The reinforced eye won’t break or bend under load (it has a lifetime warranty). The included heavy-duty swivel ensures the anchor comes up and fits itself to the pulpit each time it’s raised. More...
