MAKO® 214 CC:
Turnkey Fishboat w/Family-Friendly Options

MAKO® 214 CC
MAKO® 214 CC

MAKO® is noted for building hard-core, turnkey fishboats, but add the upholstery package and backrests to the bow area of the MAKO® 214 CC and she becomes a comfortable rig for family time as well. Note the low-profile anodized aluminum grabrails and the gunwale bolsters. This arrangement can be left in place as anglers step up to the bow deck for some casting or to handle the anchor. A similarly-upholstered flip-up bench seat is available for the transom, turning that area into a spot for a bit of socializing when the rods are put up for the day. More...

The Turkish-built Vicem 58 features an interior that’s lavishly finished in finely-crafted mahogany, displaying Old World craftsmanship that’s uncommon even in premium yachts. The mahogany sole has holly inlay around the edge and the settees and cabinets are underlit with LEDs. The cabinets and doors are all solid wood, wall paneling is mahogany veneer and even the helm gets the full sculpted mahogany treatment. The three staterooms, two heads belowdecks and the hallways are also done in satin-finished mahogany. More...

Evinrude E-TEC G2 250 HP:
Built for Extended Service in Saltwater

Evinrude E-TEC G2 250 HP
Evinrude E-TEC G2 250 HP

The Evinrude E-TEC G2 250, like all the new G2 outboards, is designed for long life in salty coastal waters as well as on inland rivers and lakes. The advanced two-stroke engines are protected from the block up with advanced metallurgy and special coatings, including baked-on titanium oxide paint on the powerhead components as shown here. Electro-deposited paint protects the drive housing and lower unit. The engine tilts a full 81-degrees, allowing it to completely clear the surface, which greatly reduces chances of corrosion when docked for extended periods in saltwater. More...

How Many Handholds Do Boats Need –
And Where?

BOAT NAME
Handholds attached at the helm on a center console ensure that the crew has a place to hold onto when conditions get rough.

Handholds and grabrails help keep boaters and passengers in their seats or on deck when conditions get rough, but how many handholds are enough? And where should they be located? The ABYC has a standard that spells out the size, strength, and position for each type, and NMMA-certified boats must meet it. See what the standard says about this key safety feature here…

Formula 350 FX CBR:
Twin Ilmor Power, 56.0 MPH WOT

Formula 350 FX CBR
Formula 350 FX CBR

It’s all about the muscle with the Formula 350 FX CBR, which offers a power option of twin 430-hp Ilmor Marine MV8 6.2L OPS engines with One Drives turning 26” (66 cm) prop-sets. These custom-built engines with Roger Penske auto-racing heritage pushed the seven-ton sportboat on plane in 4.7 seconds, while WOT produced 56.0 mph. Though fuel-efficiency may not be a big sales point in a go-fast boat, range is significant: Best cruise came in at 3500 rpm and 30.8 mph (26.7 knots), which produced a fuel burn of 24.5 gph (92.7 lph), giving her a range of 195 statute miles with 10% of the fuel capacity in reserve.
