Robalo 206 Cayman S:
Well-Designed Helm Station

Robalo 206 Cayman S
Robalo 206 Cayman S

Designers of the Robalo 206 Cayman S have clearly put some thought into the console, which has numerous molded setbacks and reliefs that add style as well as utility. The two storage pans, located in the top of the console on either side of the standard compass, have rubber pads in the bottom and are self-draining. We often see just a flat surface here. The stainless-steel steering wheel is canted at about a 45-degree angle and the hub is recessed into the console which saves space. Bay Star hydraulic is standard and tilt steering is an option. The stainless-steel accessory switches are compact, clearly marked and not subject to UV degradation as are plastic ones. More...

Grand Banks 60 Skylounge:
Legacy Styling, State-of-the-Art Construction

Grand Banks 60 Skylounge
Grand Banks 60 Skylounge

The Grand Banks 60 Skylounge continues her legacy classic styling with options including a varnished teak transom and flagstaff, but under the skin she’s all state-of-the-art construction. The hull is vacuum-infused with E-glass, vinylester and epoxy resin and uses carbon fiber in structural areas for added strength with minimal weight. She is cored with Corecell and Airex foam. The deck and everything above it are constructed of Corecel-cored carbon fiber and infused with vinylester resin, an expensive material that most builders only use in the hull. The result of this design is a low center of gravity that, combined with a 19’2” (5.84 m) beam, enhances the stability of the boat in a seaway, plus provides a lot more room inside. More...

Liferails: Keeping the Crew on Board

BOAT NAME
The bowrail on the Back Cove 32 starts out at 20” (50.8 cm) aft on each side, increasing in height to 28” (71.12 cm) fully forward.

Boats need to have certain safety gear installed to be NMMA certified to ABYC standards, and one of the most obvious are liferails. These railings along the sides and foredeck of boats give the crew something to grab as they make their way around while the boat is underway. They need to be built to certain dimensions to do their job properly, in the eyes of the ABYC. To see the standards liferails must meet to achieve NMMA certification, click here...

Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 HP:
Direct Fuel Injection for Fuel Economy

Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 HP
Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 HP

All cylinders of the Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 are fed by direct, in-cylinder fuel injection. This important feature sets the Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines apart from all competitive engines in her class, and is the primary reason why the G2s are as fuel efficient as 4-stroke engines. Fuel is delivered inside the combustion chamber, rather than in an intake manifold, resulting in more accurate fuel delivery and better atomization of the charge for a more complete burn. A special electronic oil-injection system squirts lube at the same time to lubricate the engine's internal components. The resulting combustion is fired by BRP’s Fast Rise Inducted Ignition system that produces a higher energy, longer duration spark for improved fuel burn, more instant torque and better fuel economy. Cruisers Yachts 50 Cantius:
A Helm Designed for the Owner/Operator

Cruisers Yachts 50 Cantius
Cruisers Yachts 50 Cantius

The console of the Cruisers Yachts 50 Cantius has plenty of space for two large screens to monitor all ship systems and navigation. Our test captain liked the positioning of the binnacle controls directly adjacent to the joystick control for the twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 drive systems. It’s within easy reach of the skipper on the starboard arm rest, and he reported that docking was intuitive despite a 15-knot wind on test day. The leather-wrapped roadster-style wheel adjusts to multiple positions for operation standing or sitting. The double-wide captain’s seat features flip-up armrests and flip-up bolsters—a second set of eyes forward is always welcome when underway. More...
