Sailfish 360 CC:
Ready for Big Game Offshore

Sailfish 360
Powered by triple 300-hp 4.2 L V-6 Yamaha outboards had a top speed of 54.1 mph, or 47 knots, in our tests. As can be seen here, she was made for offshore work.

Introduced last fall, the Sailfish 360 is the flagship vessel of the Sailfish line. Our test vessel had a weight of about 15,220 lbs. (6,904 kg). Everything about this boat is big. Forward, her freeboard is 4’7” (1.4 m) high and aft is 3’4” (1.0 m) high. The result is a deeper cockpit for greater safety offshore when things get snotty. The fiberglass T-top and power actuated captain’s centerline seat are standard as are many other features. She is remarkably well equipped. Be sure to see our in-depth Captain’s Report in addition to the detailed video. More...

Monte Carlo Yachts 96:
Bringing the Outside in for Entertainment

Monte Carlo Yachts 96
Monte Carlo Yachts 96

The full-height side windows, extra-wide folding doors leading to the aft deck and triple-wide, stainless-steel-framed sliding side doors give the Monte Carlo 96 salon and dining area an al fresco feel that redefines the concept of “open and airy”. There’s an additional dining area for eight on the aft deck, and another for at least eight more on the aft end of the flying bridge. The furnishings are largely up to the taste, desires and budget of the owner. More...

TAHOE® 2150 CC:
Deckboat Meets Center Console

TAHOE® 2150 CC
TAHOE® 2150 CC

The TAHOE® 2150 CC has a familiar look forward, a broad-bowed deckboat combined with a casting deck we’ve seen on other TAHOE® multi-mission models. The helm throws in an interesting twist—it’s mounted on a center console, an arrangement we think coastal anglers in particular will like for its easy passage fore and aft on both sides. She has a large wraparound bow seating area plus backrests for forward-facing travel, and a side-mount table is optional. Snap-in soft flooring is also optional, as is the bow-mount trolling motor. Palm Beach 55:
Luxury-Grade Command Station

Palm Beach 55
Palm Beach 55

The fortunate owner of a Palm Beach 55 operates from a helm station that would look at home in a Bentley. The instrument panel is relatively low, maximizing vision forward, but is wide enough for the large navigational screen as well as the classic analog gauges. Note that the vinyl on the dash extends all the way to the windshield to reduce glare. Push-button keyless starting is standard with the Volvo Penta engines. Three raked windshields across the front of the cabin are clear tempered glass and each has its own pantograph wiper with 24 V synchronized motors, variable speed control, and washers. More...

Evinrude iDock:
Intuitive Joystick Control at an Affordable Price

Evinrude iDock
Evinrude iDock

Because the Evinrude iDock system takes advantage of the standard built-in digital steering of Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboards from 150 to 300 hp, it has much simpler rigging and is far less expensive than competing units from other outboard makers. The base price for a two-engine system is $5,999, compared to as much as $20,000 for some systems. The iDock system includes a gyroscope that delivers “smart” control by factoring wind and current to deliver easy, intuitive low-speed handling even in challenging conditions. More...

10 Best Boating Apps

uscg report
Shown here is the app called BoatUS, which offers users important features such as towing assistance, marine conditions, tide and weather forecasts.

Today’s cell phones are also navigational and safety devices that can come in quite handy for boaters. They can help us get where we’re going faster, stay out on the water longer, and as a result, possibly even help us catch more fish. Most importantly, they can serve as life-saving devices in emergency situations. If, that is, you have the right apps. Here's what we think the 10 best apps for your device are. More...
