Evinrude Maintenance Program:
No Scheduled Maintenance
for 5 Years/500 Hours

Evinrude Maintenance Program
Evinrude Low Maintenance and 5 Year Corrosion Warranty

As the only 2-stroke outboard on the market, the Evinrude E-TEC G2 has over 100 fewer parts than competitive 4-stroke outboards. Fewer parts means fewer things that can go wrong, fewer components that need servicing, and more time spent on the water. The Evinrude E-TEC G2 has no dealer-scheduled maintenance for 5 years or 500 hours. The engines are also equipped with a winterizing fogging feature, activated at the touch of a button, safeguarding motor storage for next season. More...

Jeanneau Leader 6.5:
Sportboat w/Berths & Head

Jeanneau Leader 6.5
Jeanneau Leader 6.5

The 19’8” (6.01 m) Jeanneau Leader 6.5 has an unusual, flat padded forward deck design aimed at sun worshippers—only when at anchor, of course. Surprisingly, she tucks dual berths and a head below, in what can be described as a cuddy. There are swivel seats for two at the helm, plus a bench seat aft, giving sportboat functionality. Without the optional pad, her flat bow can be used as a casting deck. She’s rated for outboards to 200 hp. More...

Hatteras Electrical Systems:
Built for Reliability and Safety

Hatteras Electrical Systems
Hatteras Plumbing and Wiring

Few builders of large motoryachts have more reliable electrical systems than Hatteras. For example, to prevent galvanic corrosion, a 2” (5.08 cm) wide copper bonding strap goes from stem to stern, and everything from all the underwater gear to any heavy metal devices is bonded to this strap via heavy gauge green wire, as seen here. Few builders are better versed in the ABYC electrical standards than Hatteras – because they were largely written by Hatteras engineers over the years. See the video...

The top of the engine box in the Scarab 255 Open ID has receptacles for up to four backrests that can be positioned separately to face forward, or aft, or can be removed and stowed to create a flat sun pad. The optional sun pad cushions ($320) are held in place by snaps, and can be flipped inboard to keep footprints off the upholstery, and of course, the engine box top has non-skid beneath the cushions. Back Cove 32:
Fuel-Efficient Single-Diesel Power

Back Cove 32
Back Cove 32

The Back Cove 32 is a Downeast cruiser available with four single-engine options. With the 425-hp Cummins QSB 6.7 we tested, she topped out at 26.0 knots, while at 10.8 knots she got 1.5 nmpg for a range of 242.6 NM (449.3 km). Though she’s got a single screw, a standard bow thruster eases handling around the docks. A ladder grants access into this space on the port side of the engine. More...

Capt. Steve's Trailering Tips

Boating Tips
Inspecting a trailer before hauling the boat down the highway makes sense.

For boaters who know what they’re doing, trailering a boat can have its benefits, from making it easy to explore other bodies of water, to improved boat maintenance, to savings on boat storage.
