World Cat - Catamaran Advantages:
Are Two Hulls Better than One?

World Cat - Catamaran Advantages
How do catamarans stack up against monohulls?

Catamaran hulls have many advantages, as thoroughly detailed here by BoatTEST.com Test Captain Dave East. The twin hulls provide a smooth, dry ride in a chop, great stability in beam seas, and easier planing on a single engine. The wide-beam design is carried nearly all the way to the bow, adding usable space on deck. And, the twin hulls provide added buoyancy, reducing draft and allowing safer operation in shallow water. Fleming Yachts 58:
Ready for World-Ranging Cruises

Fleming Yachts 58
Fleming Yachts 58

The Fleming Yachts 58 looks ready for a world-ranging cruise, and she is: her 1,450-gallon (5,488 L) fuel tankage gives her a range of better than 1,000 NM at 10-knot displacement speeds. The high, peaked bow stem, Portuguese bridge, and stepped-down bulwarks aft present a shippy appearance, but also make her safe and seaworthy when operating far offshore. She's equipped to accommodate a couple for long-range cruising, or four for shorter vacations and weekends. Get a closer look at her systems here...

Robalo 246 Cayman SD:
Shallow-Draft CC w/SkyDeck Command Post

Robalo 246 Cayman SD
Robalo 246 Cayman SD

The tower on the Robalo 246 Cayman SD not only gives the skipper a great view of likely fishing spots and shallow areas, but also provides an anchor for outriggers – which, as shown here, can support a shade for the cockpit seating. With a 16-degree deadrise and a draft of just 12 inches, she's well suited for prowling the flats, but has high enough topsides and bow flare to get outside the inlet for some trolling in calm weather. Check her out here...
