The all new Mercury FourStroke 4.6L V-8 outboard is the lightest engine in class despite the fact that it has 8 cylinders and the greatest displacement in class. But new features don’t end there: transient spark technology gives the engine 5 to 10% more torque at the low end, according to Mercury. Our tests confirmed good acceleration from a standing start and a burst of power in the mid RPM range.
