New Engine Report
Mercury FourStroke 4.6L V-8 Outboard:
Largest Displacement and
Lightest Weight in Class
The all new Mercury FourStroke 4.6L V-8 outboard is the lightest engine in class despite the fact that it has 8 cylinders and the greatest displacement in class. But new features don’t end there: transient spark technology gives the engine 5 to 10% more torque at the low end, according to Mercury. Our tests confirmed good acceleration from a standing start and a burst of power in the mid RPM range. A computer-controlled throttle that controls the fuel-air mixture automatically leans out mixture at speed and dials in more economical fuel consumption.

Cruisers Yachts 60 Fly:
A Yacht for Gracious Cruising
The Cruisers Yachts 60 Fly shown here is a two-stateroom yacht expressly designed for two-couple cruising. As such, she has privacy, room, luxurious accommodations, and four venues for entertaining when close to home. She is owner/operator friendly, thanks in part to three control stations with joysticks linked to the twin Volvo Penta IPS950s, including one on the aft deck. Her hull lamination is with the vacuum resin infusion process and she is cored with PVC foam. Overall, Cruisers Yachts uses “best practices” in her construction, even though they are more expensive and labor intensive than many brands on the market.
Boston Whaler 345 Conquest:
Seaworthy Express for Offshore Anglers
The express design of the Boston Whaler 345 Conquest plus the standard hardtop with full windshield gives the helm area complete protection no matter how much spray is flying, with an optional button-up enclosure making her a three-season fishboat. The optional tower gives the captain a bird’s-eye view of trolling baits, and potential spots for lurking gamefish. Convertible V-seating in the cabin welcomes overnights offshore, and triple 300-hp Mercury Verado outboards turn out 50.0 mph WOT speeds.
Hargrave 95 Freedom:
