Captain's ReportContemporary Sport Yacht with Hydraulic Swim PlatformRiviera brought in Dutch naval architect Frank Mulder (designer of the 116-foot, 66.7-knot Moonraker sport yacht) to design a long-and-lean yacht that cold confidently charge through the ocean. But the vessel also maintains the lavish look of other Riviera yachts. “You simply can’t get more luxurious than this in a sport yacht,” says Michael J. Scruggs, president of Riviera Yachts of the Americas, noting the 4700SY “expands on the single-level lifestyle of the 3600SY introduced last fall.”Park It HereThe garage door under the cockpit sole and hydraulic swim platform work in unison to make easy work of launching and retrieving the tender. This area also includes a bunch of nooks and crannies for storage, including a locker for fenders and a barbecue in another locker. Two LayoutsRiviera gives owners the option of two accommodation layouts: a three-cabin and two-head design or two cabins and two heads, plus a belowdeck lounge area.“It’s a sense of light and space,” says Scruggs, pointing out “the expansive panoramic windows and a huge electric sunroof in the saloon enhance the airy ambiance.”An L-shaped leather lounge is the focal point of the saloon. A fold-out dinette can be lowered to convert to a coffee table.Dinner Is ServedThe contemporary-styled galley has a two-burner electric cooktop, convection microwave oven, under-bench refrigeration with freezer compartment, drawer dishwasher and overhead storage lockers, as well as a pull-out pantry. Hungry?Nicely StatedThe fully-carpeted master stateroom forward features a queen walkaround bed. The head is designed with a contemporary glass basin semi-recessed into a solid surface bench top. The second bath, accessed from the companionway, is equally well equipped and features an opening portlight and large deck hatch. The second stateroom on the port side has twin beds with an infill available to convert it to a double. It has a cedar-lined hanging locker. The optional third bedroom starboard is designed with upper and lower berths as well as a cedar-lined hanging locker. The alternative in this area: a lounge with doors into the master stateroom. You’ve Got the PowerThe 4700 retails for $837,198 with standard Caterpillar C-9 diesels (575 hp). The boat is also available with optional Caterpillar C12s (715-hp).
