    Captain's Report

    Carolina Cat 18CC
This 18-footer has a 8'1" (2.48 m) beam, weights 1,200 lbs. (545.45 kgs.) and has a very affordable price tag.

The Carolina Cat 18CC is rated for 115 horsepower and has a top speed of 35 miles per hour and a cruise speed of 23 miles per hour at over 5.2 miles per gallon, according to the folks at PowerCat Group.

    Carolina Cat 18CC
The boat is 18'2" long and its twin hulls give the boat both stability and a softer ride in choppy conditions.

While it is an affordable, basic boat, it does have a fiberglass liner. It draws just 9" (22.8 cm) so is at home cruising or fishing on the flats. The builder says that the catamaran hull makes it "offshore capable" because of its "big boat ride," however, we have yet to test the boat. It is foam filled and will float level in compliance with USCG standards. The boat has a 28-gallon fuel capacity (106 L) and a 24 gal. (91 L) insulated box that can double as a livewell. The cushioned helm seat has a removable 72-quart cooler. Water-tight hatches in the stern of the boat allow access to batteries and pumps.

    Carolina Cat 18CC
    The center console is well-equipped.

With the draft of a skiff, a 120-mile range, and the soft ride of a much larger deep-V center-console, you have inshore and offshore capability in good weather. She has over 120 square feet of cockpit space, including a 33-square-foot casting platform and includes trolling pads on both the port and starboard sides. Other features include--
