Captain's Report

At 75’8” (23.07 m) long with a 19’8” (6.0 m) beam, the M75 is the flagship of the Maritimo fleet.

Editor’s Report by Eric Colby

Australia’s Maritimo Yachts has launched its largest model to date, the 75’8” (23.07 m) M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht. The company says that this new model was developed with more collaboration with customers than any other vessel Maritimo has previously introduced.

Tom Barry-Cotter, Maritimo’s director of design said the M75 was more than two years in development and that the company’s production facilities in Australia underwent extensive upgrades and expansions that were completed in 2019.

Part of an aggressive plan for 2021, the global reveal of the M75 marks the seventh launch for Maritimo in 2021 and there are reportedly several orders for the new model. She is slated for an official launch in late 2022.

The M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht has Maritimo’s signature lines.

Stepping Up

“Carrying the designation of the brand’s flagship status, the M75 has been cloaked in a mighty exterior from bow to stern,” said Barry-Cotter. “The M75’s hull profile is characterized by sweeping longitudinal contours and styling cues combined with integral hull windows gracing the hull topsides, providing the internal accommodations with unprecedented views and natural light.”

He continued, “Sleek molded contours transition from the aft portofino internal hips into the deep walkthrough side decks that flank each side of the deckhouse, connecting the forward and rear decks with the functionality that Maritimo has become known for. Exterior flybridge wings provide further brand-defining in the space they offer within the enormous flybridge level, as well as protection provided over the side decks.”

Long-Range Legacy

The M75 measures 75’8” (23.07 m) long with a 19’6” (6.0 m) beam. She has a variable deadrise bottom with a deep keel and sharp entry. The running surface flattens as it heads to help maximize efficiency and stability. She’s powered by 1,150-mhp Scania inboards spinning 5-blade Nibral propellers. The M75 is designed for a shallow shaft angle that results in a draft of 4’11” (1.5 m). Engine upgrades include twin 1,380-mph MTU 10V2000M86s and 1,625-mph MTU 10V2000 M96Ls. The M75 carries 2,641-gallon (10,000-liter) of fuel.

There’s easy passage from the bow to the new aft adventure deck this is wide open to launch myriad watersports.

On the stern, the M75 is designed with what Barry-Cotter calls an “adventure deck” that “creates an incredibly versatile hub for lounging, cooking, adventuring or storage.” The gathering area includes a bar with a sink, top-loading refrigerator and an electric grill. There’s access to the utility room on each side with a secondary entry to the engine compartment. Outboard on each side of the adventure deck are top-loading lockers that can be equipped with optional warping winches.

Lit up at night, the adventure deck is an inviting area to enjoy a moonlit cocktail.

It’s three steps up to the aft deck that is left open to create a versatile area where owners can choose the furniture to accommodate eight guests in a variety of lounging and dining arrangements. The flying bridge extends aft over the upper cockpit deck and optional electric roller blinds can enclose this area. Passageways on each side lead to the foredeck where there are more lounging options.

The aft deck has lounging space for a crowd and the flying bridge extension provides protection day or night.

Connecting the outdoor and indoor gathering areas, the galley keeps the folks preparing meals in contact with those relaxing in the aft cockpit or salon. Barry-Cotter says the M75’s galley is the “most bespoke to date” with glazing treatments that provide views of the outside from virtually all perspectives. Optional sliding windows can be added to turn the salon into an indoor/outdoor retreat.

Large windows and limited mullions give guests in the salon views almost as good as if they were outdoors.

Expanded Utility

Another nod to Maritimo’s long-range-cruising legacy, interior stairs lead up to the enclosed flying bridge or skylounge. The climate-controlled bridge has two lounging areas that can be converted to additional berths if unexpected overnight guests. Outdoors, the aft section is shaded by the hardtop and roll down-blinds can enclose this area as well.

Three-Level Luxury

Maritimo uses an open-atrium design for the companionway that leads belowdecks. The “floating” staircase lets in natural light and creates an openness for the area and creates a spaciousness that had previously been hard to achieve.

The accommodations deck has four staterooms with three heads and an option for crew quarters in lieu of the aft utility cabin. The master cabin is at amidships with a king berth on the centerline with a large en suite aft and a walk-through dressing area. Storage is provided in double full-height hanging lockers and half-height wardrobes plus drawers and a desk.

The master stateroom has a king island berth on the centerline plus lots of space to move about.

The forward VIP stateroom has a queen berth offset berth to port, which makes it easier for guests to walk around all sides without needing steps. It has a private en suite head.

Of the two guest cabins, the one to starboard has two single berths that can slide together plus an en suite head. Opposite, the port-side quarters have two single berths. Guests in this cabin would share the head with passengers across the companionway.

Versatile Storage

Large items can be stored in the aft garage lazarette and utility cabin. The adventure deck can be raised with electric actuators to uncover the garage lazarette area while the tender garage can house a 10’3” (3.2 m) tender. Alternatively, the garage can house toys like kayaks, SUP boards and SCUBA gear. If an owner wants a larger tender, a 1,212-lb. (500 kg) davit can be installed on the foredeck or a hydraulic platform can be used on the aft adventure deck.
