New Boats Tested
Tigé RZ4
Tigé RZ4
The RZ4 is built on a proven
22’ Tigé design.

Tigé has a patent on the hull design that eliminates one of the design issues others have, hook in the hull, for creating that perfect wave design. With their patented ConvexV hull and TAPS2, you get the wake you want when you want it. In mere seconds you can go from wakeboard massive waves to cutting a fine edge for slalom skiing. See complete test and video…

  Four Winns H220 SS
Four Winns H220
With a 320-hp 6.2 L sterndrive this 22 has real muscle. 49 mph WOT.

When we tested the Four Winns H220 SS the company was so confident in the boat that they brought along several other brand’s models in the same size range so we could compare. That speaks volumes about Four Winns' product knowledge and the design and thought they are putting into all of their new boats. See complete test and video…
Tahoe Q4 SF
tahoe q4 sf
This 18’ bowrider is an affordable fish n’ ski entry level boat at $17.2k.

For the last several years Tahoe has been the fastest growing sports boat brand on the market. The 18’ Q4 is a big reason for the brand’s success and a quick look will show you why. It weighs only 2300 lbs with its 135-hp MerCrusier engine which means it is easy to trailer behind most anything. Her best cruise is 27 mph, getting 5 mpg, and it doesn’t get much better. See our complete test and video…
  Doral Venezia
Doral Venezia
With a 9’4” beam the Venezia has
10” more cockpit width.

Doral offers an incredible choice to people looking for a pocket cruiser in the 26-foot range. They can choose either the trailerable Monticello with an 8’6” beam or the new Venezia with 9’4” beam. The new boat also has 6’2” head room below, something very hard to do in this size boat. She has perhaps the largest cockpit in class, and is certainly the most appealing in many ways.  See test and video…

EPA

“Extraordinary Measures” are Required
Now is the time for all good men to come
to the aid of their fellow boaters.

Engine Cooling Water Dish Water Overboard Shower
Water
Deck
Washdown
See that stream of cooling water coming from the engine? You’ll need an EPA permit! Washing dishes on your boat? You’ll need an EPA permit! Want to take a shower on your boat? You’ll need an EPA permit! Want to wash down your boat? You’ll need an EPA permit!
Time is quickly running out. On Sept. 30, 2008 the EPA will be requiring permits for ANY water coming off your boat. Two weeks ago a bill -- S. 2766 -- was introduced into the senate to stop this fiasco that could kill boating as we know it. Kill it because boaters will refuse to pay for this Alice-in-Wonderland nonsense permit. To find out what is going on, what the chances are to stop the madness, and what you can do about it, click on the links below. Remember, this isn’t the first time government incompetence has decimated our sport!

Axius is more than just a joystick.
Do you remember cars in the days before automatic transmissions when “4-on-the-floor” referred to a three-foot-long “joystick” of a different sort? That is the kind of sea change in technology and functionality that MerCruiser management is betting will sweep across twin sterndrive boats. In the five videos above, listen to Kevin Grodzki, President of MerCruiser, and find out all about the new “System.”

Triumph 170 Center Console

Functionality
and
Zero Maintenance?
Moderately priced, the 170 Triumph is for people looking
for functionality, versatility
and no maintenance.

The 170 is an ideal bay boat, utility boat or one for the kids to hack around in.

We all know that Triumphs are tough, but they are much more, something boat buyers often overlook. The fact is that they are just as functional as most other center consoles on the market, and they have as many amenities as well. Capt. John Wenz takes a look at the 170 and gives us a new perspective…launch here

The German Navy Strikes!

German Captain Joins the
Samurai Navy

The Germans now join
the Samurai Warship Club.

Samurai navy
Watch more graduates of the
Capt. Ron School of Seamanship.

We can well understand the deep envy that the German Navy must have had upon seeing video of the Japanese Samurai Navy bifurcating anything afloat. Now they have joined the Samurai ranks, doing them one better by trying to chop one of their own warships in two. Who needs a foe, when you destroy your own vessels? Seeing is believing…

New Boating Mag Launch

New Multi-Racial Boating Magazine
We're in the 21st Century and the complexion of American boating has some new additions.

This new quarterly magazine is designed
to welcome African-Americans
and others to boating.

During the last 15 years we have seen a number of new boating magazines start up and most are still searching for a reason for being. They are all given away free and one is pretty much like the next. But now we are blessed with a new boating magazine that truly has a "reason for being" -- to celebrate ethnic and racial diversity on the water and to encourage others who may not be traditional American WASPs to join in the fun of boating. Welcome aboard "Inland Boater."
