What Causes Boaters to Get Hurt?
Looking at the primary cause of a boating accident that injured someone can help us all understand where the safety of our passengers is at risk. Contributing factors include aspects of vessel operation, failure of equipment, conditions of the environment, and more. Operator inattention, the force of a wake hitting the boat, excessive speed – it’s all there. When we have a look at this data, we think about how many close calls boaters avoid.
This figure reflects the first cause listed for all injuries.
