Sandbars draw all sorts of activity, and caution is key to avoid accidents.

Boating accidents ruin many a boaters’ day on the water, but obviously a fatality takes it to another level. Boaters need to use caution in all situations, no matter what kind of boating they’re doing. Some boats and watercraft fall into a category that can present significantly higher risk statistically.

Interesting fact: In 2016, 73% of boating-accident deaths tracked by the U.S. Coast Guard were attributed to drowning.

This table and the accompanying bar graph document deaths by vessel type with a focus on drownings. It also provides the percentage of deaths by drowning by type of vessel.
