Top 10 Causes of Boating Accidents
We have seen two accidents like the one above over the course of 10 years right in front of our waterfront office. Both happened at night. Both for the same reason. Can you guess what it was?

Note that while alcohol use ranks #6 in terms of the number of accidents, it ranks #1 in terms of fatalities. It was also responsible for both of the accidents we witnessed, as boaters were leaving a local snuggery late at night and did not see --or were confused by -- the marker lights. One person was killed in one accident and in the other the operator suffered a broken jaw.
