Bryant Boats 233X:
Dedicated Wake Surfing Boat
With I/O Drive

Bryant Boats 233X
The Bryant Boats patented “Sport Porch” seen here keeps the wake surfer 34” (.86 m) away from the aft-facing sterndrive props, thus making it safe for wake surfing, according to the builder.

The Bryant Boats 233X is a rarity among dedicated wake-surfing boats in that she's a sterndrive rather than inboard powered vessel. Offering a shallower draft, power trim, and improved steerability that's common to all I/Os, the Bryant Boats 233X is being marketed to wake surfers as an alternative to traditional inboard towboats. But, she's got most of the necessary features for an excellent tow-boat, as well, including combined ballast, surf tabs, a patented "Sport Porch" and the quick-planing and prop bite of available dual, counter-rotating props in MerCruiser or Volvo Penta power packages up to 320 horsepower. Nitro Z21:
New Shock-Absorbing Seat

Nitro Z21
At 21’2” (6.45 m) LOA, the Nitro Z21 is the biggest high-performance bass boat in the company's fleet, and she comes fully-loaded with a wide variety of angling gear that should delight the serious fisherman.

The Nitro Z21 is designed to be fast, even on bumpy days, thanks to an improved hull design and shock-absorbing seats. Fishing features abound, including a magnetic lure rack on the underside of one hatch where fishing lures can be accessed as needed. The port rod box holds 10 rods in an organizer that protects tips and prevents tangles. A Minn Kota Maxxum 24-volt trolling motor with 80 lbs. (36 kg) of thrust and a 42” (1.07 m) shaft comes standard. More...

Hurricane SunDeck 217 I/O:
Pontoon Boat Space in a Sportboat

Hurricane SunDeck 217 I/O
The extended swim platform on the SunDeck 217 I/O is an option that could be a worthwhile upgrade for families who plan to enjoy watersports on this versatile deckboat.

The Hurricane SunDeck 217 I/O combines many of the amenities of a pontoon boat with the speed of a fiberglass monohull. The broad bow makes the seating area forward nearly as roomy as the aft cockpit. An optional fishing chair turns the bow platform into a workable casting deck. The port console hides a sink and optional portable toilet. More...

Cruisers Yachts 41 Cantius:
Stylish Big Water Cruiser

Cruisers Yachts 41 Cantius
With a tall bow and a fine forward entry, the Cruisers Yachts 41 Cantius slices and dices waves, whether they're ICW yacht wakes or rollers in an inlet.

With a 13' (4.0 m) beam, lots of freeboard and plenty of buoyancy forward, the Cruisers Yachts 41 Cantius is a capable big-water cruiser that also functions nicely as a party animal. A popular functional feature is the refreshment bar on the swim platform, complete with two pedestal bar stools -- a great spot for sundowning at anchor or at the dock. More...

World Cat 320CC:
Roomy, Premium-Grade Center Console Cat

World Cat 320CC
The leaning post on the World Cat 320CC features a 45-gallon (170 L) aerated baitwell with a clear top for easy bait inspection, plus a sink, storage door and wraparound handrail.

The huge, squared-off bow of the World Cat 320CC gives a remarkable amount of fishing room forward, far more than in conventional monohulls. The catamaran design not only increases usable space, but also delivers an exceptional ride in rough water, and the company provides a level of fit-and-finish that's superior to most in the world of dedicated fishing boats. Locking rod lockers add a level of security missing in most center consoles. More...

Volvo Penta V8-430:
High-Tech, High Output, Lightweight V8

Volvo Penta V8-430
Volvo Penta's V8 430-hp engine has been electronically remapped and contains some of the latest technology, including variable valve timing that allows the engine to produce more low-end and mid-range torque as well as giving higher top speed potential.

The Volvo Penta V8-430 has an impressive power-to-weight ratio, weighing in at some 300 lbs. (136 kg) lighter than other engine/drive systems of comparable output. It's freshwater-cooled for long life, and the engine delivers fuel economy up to 30% better than the big-block V8 it replaces, according to the company. High-flow aluminum cylinder heads with machined intake and exhaust ports provide significantly improved flow through the combustion chamber, and the camshaft profiles have more lift and duration. Grady-White Fisherman 180:
Bay Boat with Big Ideas

Grady-White Fisherman 180
Horizontal rod racks under the gunwales and a self-bailing cockpit, along with other features, mark the Grady-White Fisherman 180 as a boat designed for serious anglers.

With a draft of just 15'' (0.38 m), the Grady-White Fisherman 180 is a natural for bay-boating and fishing the edges of inshore flats. However, she has more forward freeboard than most competitors thanks to her Rybovich sheer, making her a competent performer outside the inlets in good weather, as well. An insulated baitwell and fishbox and plenty of rod holders - both vertical and horizontal - will make serious anglers feel immediately at home. She is Grady-White's smallest boat, so for those that have always wanted to own a new boat of this brand, this is the most economical way to do it. More...

Prestige 550 Flybridge:
Timeless Styling in a Motoryacht

Prestige 550 Flybridge
Abundant hull side windows and lots of glass around the salon make the Prestige 550 Flybridge bright below decks.

The Prestige 550 Flybridge delivered strong performance for a yacht of her dimensions and power in our test runs, getting on plane in 8.5 seconds and topping out at 34.7 mph with twin 600-hp Cummins QSC 8.3s and Zeus 3800 pod drives. A flat keel at the stern acts as a lifting pad, according to the company, assisting in getting the boat on plane and keeping her there at lower speeds. More...

Four Winns H350:
Jumbo Bowrider with Cozy Cabin

Four Winns H350
The broad sun lounge on the Four Winns H350 faces the standard extended "teak beach" swim platform, creating a natural gathering spot when at anchor or at the docks. Stereo speakers and remote control are close at hand.

The Four Winns H350 is primarily an XXL bowrider, but she also offers a compact cabin where guests can get out of the rain, or where a couple might spend a few nights on the hook, thanks to a mid-cabin berth and enclosed head. The standard sunroof adds a striking design feature to the boat, and the windows set into the hull not only provide lots of light below but become a styling feature as well. More...

Regal 2100 RX:
A Premium-Grade Watersports Platform

Regal 2100 RX
The Regal 2100 RX is a serious tow-boat and she looks the part. The FasTrac hull puts her on top quickly and contributes to exciting handling as the boat runs on a slurry of air and water.

The Regal 2100 RX is a premium-level watersports boat with a fit-and-finish that rivals what is commonly seen in dedicated inboard ski boats -- but doing it for less money. She looks the part of a serious towboat thanks to the standard PowerTower, swiveling board racks and performance tower speakers connected to the premium Fusion stereo. More...

Sailfish 270CC:
Family-Friendly Bluewater Fisherman

Sailfish 270CC
The Sailfish 270CC is set up as a serious blue-water fisherman, but optional seat backs, cushions and table forward and a pop-up ski-tow pylon at the transom turn her into a credible family rig.

The Sailfish 270CC has lots of freeboard and the styling, including the sweeping sheer, angled transom, rounded and flowing console and T-top design, adds eye appeal. Like other boats in the company's line she includes a quality layup. The deck is reinforced with carbon fiber beams, and Kevlar strengthens key areas where the transom attaches to stringers as well as the forward part of the keel. Both of these high-tech materials are rarely seen in class. More...

Monte Carlo Yachts 76:
Connoisseurship Below Deck

Monte Carlo Yachts 76
The Monte Carlo Yachts 76 emphasizes modern design solutions drawn from traditional nautical concepts to produce an elegantly handsome yacht that's sure to satisfy owners with the most refined tastes.

Our test captain found the Monte Carlo Yachts 76's master stateroom warm and inviting, with indirect light throughout for nighttime romance and safety, and plenty of natural light by day. Full grain Italian leather floor coverings in the accessway below decks, along with leather insets in the bulkheads and leather drawer pulls remind guests they are on a true luxury vessel. But that's just the beginning. More...

Sea Ray 240 Sundeck:
Speedy Deckboat with Eye Appeal

Sea Ray 240 Sundeck
The Sea Ray 240 Sundeck features a broader, deckboat style bow, offering three-across seating and a roomy footwell while still maintaining the lines of a runabout/sport boat.

The Sea Ray 240 Sundeck offers premium build quality in a bowrider that won't break the family bank. She delivered impressive performance and handling agility in our tests. Powered by a 300-hp Mercury Verado 4-stroke turning a 19” (48.3 cm) Enertia propeller, she reached a top speed of 6000 rpm at 58.9 mph, and time to plane was just 3.1 seconds. The boat is also available with sterndrive power to 300-hp. More...

Hargrave 76 Ana C:
A Full Performance and Handling Test

Hargrave 76 Motoryacht
The Hargrave 76 Ana C has a LOA of 76’ (23.61 m) and a beam of 20’ (6.1 m) allowing her to accommodate four staterooms with four heads.

When we set off to test the Hargrave 76 Ana C, there was a very different set of circumstances than those we usually face. Typically, the boat is near open water, with no chance of hitting anything… ever. With this test, we got the rare opportunity to pull her away from a tight berth, take her down the narrowest, windiest river in the state of Florida, and then finally head out to let her stretch her legs. What we came away with was a better understanding of her complete maneuverability, and handling characteristics. See the video. More...

Lesson of the Week

Boating Under the Influence

Capt. Steve Smart Boating Cover
Captain Steve says don’t drink and operate a boat – it’s not worth it!

This week’s lesson from Captain Steve is straightforward and should go without saying – operating a boat under the influence is a local, state, and federal crime. Captain Steve goes over your responsibilities as captain – to other boaters on the water, to your passengers, and to yourself. He will explain what the parameters are to be considered boating under the influence. The four videos presented this week are part of BoatTEST.com's USCG-approved boating course. Watch Captain Steve’s video boating lessons every week on BoatTEST.com.
