Evinrude E-TEC G2 300:
State-of-the-Art V6 2-Stroke

Evinrude E-TEC G2 300
The Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 has a distinctive appearance that's impossible to ignore, but even more innovative is the engineering that's found under that bright cowling.

The Evinrude E-TEC G2 300 is a "clean sheet" 2-stroke outboard built on a 210 cu. in. V6 block. The EFI engine weighs just 558 lbs. (253 kg). Among the many engineering advances is the integral hydraulic tilt, trim and steering system -- all exposed external rams are gone, making for a very clean and virtually maintenance free installation. A beltless magneto system generates electrical power. More...

Yamaha 190 FSH:
A Jet-Powered Center Console

Yamaha 190 FSH
The Yamaha 190 FSH looks much like other small center consoles, but she has a secret -- she's powered by a 180-hp Yamaha jet propulsion system.

The Yamaha 190 FSH is one of the few jet-powered fishing boats on the market. She's a fully-equipped 19'2" (5.84 m) center console, but tucked under the helm seat is a 1.8 liter, 180-hp Yamaha jet system, complete with the company's articulating keel. The boat has a 16'' (.41 m) draft at rest, and given the capabilities of jet drive, that means she can cross flats where other boats should not be taken. More...

The 19'10" (6.05 m) Tahoe 500 TS is a turn-key runabout package that has all the necessary features for a family watersports boat included in a base price under $27,000.

The Tahoe 500 TS has the new "Powerglide II" hull design with a 16 degree deadrise at the transom, which the company says delivers a comfortable ride as well as bigger wakes for watersports. The boat makes good use of space, with a hide-away cooler under the cockpit seating and sliding/folding cushions aft to provide safe, easy passage to the swim platform. More...

Sun Tracker Regency 254 LE3:
Feature-Rich Triple-Toon

Regency 254 LE3
Sun Tracker’s Regency 254 LE3 is a triple-toon model that offers impressive comfort in a feature-rich boat on which to welcome guests for cruising, watersports and entertaining.

Upholstery on the Regency 254 LE3 is particularly impressive for a relatively affordable pontoon boat: cushioning is filled with high-density foam that is moisture-wrapped and covered with quality marine-grade vinyl, double-stitched and under-turned with all fastening hardware discreetly hidden. The helm console and reclining, high-backed captain's seat are raised on a platform to allow the operator visibility over the deck. More...

Mercury Enertia ECO Prop:
Fuel Efficiency in the Mid-RPM Range

Mercury Enertia ECO Prop
The Mercury Enertia ECO prop is designed to save boaters money by cutting fuel consumption in the mid-rpm ranges where most offshore boats cruise.

The Mercury Enertia Eco prop features a 16'' (.41 m) diameter, larger than the props typically used on offshore CC fishing boats, to deliver a more efficient bite on the water in the cruising range. The three-blade prop features a progressive rake and cupping at blade tips, and is cast from the company's proprietary X-7 stainless steel alloy, allowing thinner blades that don't flex excessively under torque. The prop delivered up to an 18% improvement in fuel economy in our tests. More...

Grady-White Freedom 275:
Dual-Console with Multiple Missions

Grady-White Freedom 275
The Freedom 275 falls right in the middle of Grady-White's nine-boat dual console series, effortlessly combining the mission of fishing with family time on the water.

The Grady-White Freedom 275’s hull was designed by C. Raymond Hunt & Associates and has the SeaVee2 proprietary hull design which is known for being good at knocking down spray as well as providing a good compromise between efficiency and comfort. Robalo R207:
Multi-Purpose Dual Console

Robalo R207
The Robalo R207 combines the utility of a serious dual-console fishing boat with the comfortable seating and family-friendly options of a bowrider.

The Robalo R207 is a dual console bowrider that successfully crosses over between a well-equipped fishing boat and a comfortable family utility boat. She's got a roomy layout and lots of interior depth to keep passengers safe and dry. Just add the optional ski tow frame and wakeboard tower to convert her to a serious watersports machine. For those who want a salty-looking dual console instead of a conventional sportboat bowrider, the R207 could be the answer. More...

Roomy, Quick, Premium Bowrider

Cruisers Sport Series 298 Bow Rider
The Cruisers Sport Series 298 Bow Rider is as rugged and solid as any boat in class.

The Cruisers Sport Series 298 Bow Rider gave an exceptionally comfortable ride in our test runs, thanks to her 21-degree deadrise at the transom, 29'0" (8.84 m) length and 6,285 lbs. (2,851 kg) displacement. She was also quick to respond to the helm and got on plane in just 3.5 seconds, pushed by the 380-hp MerCruiser 8.2L MAG MPI. Monte Carlo Yachts 105:
A New, High-Tech Super Yacht

Monte Carlo Yachts 105
Monte Carlo Yachts currently has hull #1 of the fifth boat in its series under construction in its aerospace-like factory in Italy.

People who buy 100' (30.5 m) motoryachts can be demanding -- and for the money they spend, they should be. For example, some of the things that they often want is a master cabin on the main deck, a raised pilothouse and Portuguese bridge, lots of large entertaining spaces, and a yacht on three decks not on four, in order to minimize climbing. To get all of this into a 105' (32 m) motoryacht that doesn’t look like a pregnant whale can be a challenge. Yet, we think the MCY and N&L design collaboration has been able to incorporate all of these requirements in the new Monte Carlo Yachts 105 -- a yacht that is distinctively modern, low, sleek and graceful-looking, at least to our eye. Chaparral H2O 21 Ski & Fish:
Quick Change Artist

Chaparral H2O 21 Ski & Fish
Inventive engineering transforms aft seats on the Chaparral H2O 21 Ski & Fish to swiveling bow and stern fishing seats, and a roomy livewell is tucked under the aft center seat.

The Chaparral H2O 21 Ski & Fish looks like a conventional bowrider/watersports boat at first glance, but she quickly converts into a well-equipped sterndrive fisherman. The aft seats transform into elevated swiveling bow and stern casting seats, and rods can be hidden away in a dedicated storage compartment in the port bulwark. A trolling motor mount and wiring is standard at the bow, as is a built-in battery charger. A removable carpet clears the decks for a messy day of fish-chasing. More...

Lesson of the Week

PWC Safety Tips

Capt. Steve Smart Boating Cover
PWCs are a lot of fun to drive, but like all boats they have their boundaries.
Don’t let an inexperienced person go for a joy ride on a PWC.

This week Captain Steve goes over five lessons and guidelines on operating a PWC and some rules to follow. It’s tempting to want to play around on the PWC and perform stunts and jump wakes, but don’t attempt this if a novice since it is easy to fall off, injure yourself or hurt someone else. Also, just because the PWC looks like it can handle two or three riders doesn’t mean it was designed to carry that weight. Follow the capacity plate for the particular PWC. The videos presented this week are part of BoatTEST.com’s USCG-approved Boating Course. Watch these video boating lessons every week on BoatTEST.com.
