Manitou 25 SES Flip SHP:
As You Like It --
5 Layout Options Available

 Manitou 25 SES
The Manitou 25 SES offers the versatility of five different floor plans to satisfy any owner's requirements and tastes. She’s a premium quality boat with a host of standard features.

Layout options on the Manitou 25 SES Flip SHP include one setup that emphasizes the galley, one the bar, one that includes both, others that might better suit a family that will spend a lot of time simply lazing on the water, swimming and cruising. An oversized center pontoon, strakes and tapered nosecones also make this line among the best-handling toons on the water according to our test captain. More...

Sea Ray 240 Sundeck
Cockpit seating aboard the Sea Ray 240 Sundeck features a convertible port observer's seat and a rear bench seat that can accommodate an optional filler cushion. Note the thickness and up-market trim treatments on all of the seat cushions.

The Sea Ray 240 Sundeck is an upscale sportboat including extras like convertible seating that makes the boat more versatile. The port compartment includes a standard pump-out head and upgraded treatments. There’s an aft-facing seat at the swim platform and our test captain found the two-tone upholstery treatment attractive. More...

Yamaha V1:
High-Level Entry-Level PWC

Yamaha V1
The Yamaha V1 is the basic entry level personal watercraft offered by Yamaha, but our test rider reported excellent acceleration as well as reasonable top speed.

The Yamaha V1 is powered by the company's 1052cc four-cylinder 4-stroke jet, and though this is a base package the test run delivered a top speed of 52.7 mph and 0 to 30 times around 2.7 seconds -- impressive for a thousand-pound PWC that's affordable. More...

Formula 330 Crossover Bowrider:
Dayboating or Overnighting Bowrider

Formula 330 Crossover Bowrider
The Formula 330 Crossover Bowrider has a LOA of 33’ (10.1 m), a beam of 10’3” (3.1 m)
and a draft of 35" (89 cm).

The 330 Crossover Bowrider, or CBR, is following on the success story of the 350 Crossover Bowrider which was launched two years ago. She provides the roominess and open layout of a large bowrider with the added ability to provide overnight accommodations for those short stays away from the home marina. More importantly, she maintains the trademark Formula level of fit-and-finish that we’ve come to expect from the brand famous for building premium-level boats from top to bottom. More...

Bravo Yachts B36:
New Customizable Yacht with Spice

Bravo Yachts B36
The new Bravo Yachts B36 comes with either single or twin sterndrive power, and has a huge cockpit that is fully customizable.

The Polish boatyard of Bravo Yachts has been building boats for 20 years and is now entering the U.S. with a 36' (10.97 m) express that is highly customizable. At last month's Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the company unveiled its new B36 yacht, the first in a planned series of vessels that promise to give boat buyers an attractive alternative to current boats on the market. This boat should have appeal to those who are looking for something different or who would like to customize in a size range where such a thing rarely occurs. More...

Mercury 4.5L 250 HP:
Mercury's New, Purpose-Built V6

Mercury 4.5L 250 HP
The Mercury 4.5L 250 is a purpose-built 275 CID V6 that's both smaller and lighter than the automotive-industry engines the company has used previously.

Mercury's new 4.5L 250-hp engine features a structural, cast aluminum oil pan that does a better job of dampening noise and vibration than a stamped steel pan according to the company. There are also new front and rear engine mounts with larger footprints, which should absorb more vibration from the engine and result in less of it being transmitted into the boat’s structure. A new, lighter-weight flywheel is also being used; this increases engine throttle response and is claimed to decrease shift "clunk" when going in and out of gear. More...

Regal 2800:
Top-Shelf Watersports Platform

Regal 2800
The Regal 2800 looks sporty and comes loaded with top-of-the-line amenities.

The FasTrac bottom of the Regal 2800 is a stepped hull design. By drawing air in from the chines friction between the hull surface and the water is broken, resulting in better speed and less fuel burn. Apparently the engineering works -- she ran over 50 mph in our test runs, powered by a single Volvo Penta 380. More...

Nordic Tugs 34:
Long Ranger Ideal for Cruising

Nordic Tugs 34
A white mist wake from a tugboat? It's possible if a boater is looking at the Nordic Tugs 34 with 260-hp Yanmar 6BY2 power -- she topped out at a brisk 17 mph in our test runs.

The Nordic Tugs 34 is a no-nonsense trawler designed for a couple with plenty of leisure time on hand to transit long distances in comfort and safety. At displacement speeds she has remarkable range. (See the "Test Results.") Easy and intuitive access to all operational systems make her a captain-friendly boat, and interior accommodations include all the cruising couple needs in a well-built and durable package. More...

Bayliner 185 Bowrider:
Bowrider with Versatility and Value

Bayliner 185 Bowrider
The extended swim platform makes the Bayliner 185 Bowrider feel much bigger than her 18'0" (5.49 m) LOA, and our test captain reports that the bow design and reversed chines help to keep spray out of the cockpit.

Bayliner's 185 Bowrider is a turn-key runabout that should appeal to families just getting into boating as well as to veteran boaters who know what they want and how much they want to spend. Our test captain found the 185 Bowrider to be a capable performer, with quick hole shots, predictable and consistent handling in hard-over turns and high scores in safety thanks to a relatively deep cockpit. Multi-Mission Family Cruiser

Jeanneau Velasco 43
The Jeanneau Velasco 43 can provide a welcome platform for day boating and entertaining, and also makes a capable cruiser, with the storage and amenities to allow her owners to stay onboard for an extended period of time and go nearly anywhere.

The Jeanneau Velasco 43 is a family cruiser that blends indoors and outdoors in a well-lit, open floor plan. Our test captain found her to be a sea-kindly cruiser with plenty of room for moving about, and accommodations for four. Sliding glass panels open the cabin to the aft deck. A range of more than 500 NM at hull displacement speeds makes her a capable long-range cruiser. More...

Boston Whaler 285 Conquest:
Bluewater-Ready Fishing Boat

Boston Whaler 285 Conquest
The Boston Whaler 285 Conquest is a dead-serious bluewater fish boat built to tangle with tough inlets and gnarly seas, but she also offers lots of family-friendly amenities.

Windshields that run up fully to integrate with the hardtop, much as one would see on a sport coupe design, are just one mark of the Boston Whaler 285 Conquest's offshore genetics. Our test captain also liked the windshield wipers with integral washers, standard, as a big plus for offshore operation where salt spray is a constant companion. More...

Meridian Yachts 391 Sedan:
Thoughtful Design Delivers Added Utility

Meridian 391 Sedan
Where others might simply add a high-low coffee table and a filler cushion and call the salon couch a “guest berth,” the Meridian Yachts 391 Sedan offers a hide-a-bed.

The Meridian Yachts 391 Sedan delivers both comfort and practicality in a highly maneuverable package. The salon can seat five or six people, the dinette is raised so that guests can see out, and the galley has been tucked into the passageway going below, making double use of this space. There is standing headroom in the master as well as in the entrance to the guest stateroom to starboard. More...

Tahoe 215 Xi:
More Utility for the Buck

Tahoe 215 Xi
The Tahoe 215 Xi looks a lot more like a sportboat than a fishing boat, but she comes standard with the necessities to do a bit of angling on those days when the tow-sports crowd would rather sleep in.

Most ski-and-fish boats are either mostly fish or mostly ski, but the Tahoe 215 Xi seems to strike a fair balance between the two, delivering all the necessities for both pursuits and thus hopefully keeping the whole family smiling. Fishing features include 2 removable chairs, fore and aft pedestal base positions, starboard under-gunnel rod storage, aerated bow livewell and wiring for optional trolling motor. More...

MJM 36z:
Elegant Downeaster Built Tough

MJM 36z
The MJM 36z has unique eye appeal, with huge side windows and a hardtop very much in keeping with classic lobster boat design. On-deck she has comfortable seating for 10 people, making her ideal for taking a load of friends out to see the start of a sailboat race, or simply for an evening harbor cruise.

By using modern wet prepreg epoxy that’s vacuum set and oven post-cured with E-glass and Kevlar, the builder was able to achieve a 60% glass-to-resin ratio instead of 40-50%, which is more common in convention layups. Interior woodworking is equally precise, with dove-tailed solid wood drawers and carefully-finished hardwood interiors among many other quality details. More...

Beneteau MC5:
Interior Details Match Exterior Style

Beneteau MC5
Every interior material in the Beneteau MC5 has been carefully selected to play a role in creating a luxurious feel and look in the boat. "Divine" fabric in upholstery, padded bed headboards of Majilite, with furniture upholstered with "Stonegrey" leather are just part of the decor scheme.

The Beneteau MC5 delivers the expected levels of interior elegance and premium materials. Interior joinery is made of brushed oak, the standard galley deck is hard wood, manufactured by Alpi. The aft deck is teak-and-holly as well, head compartments have teak soles and stair treads are also teak. More...

Robalo 246 Cayman:
Run Shallow, Run Deep

Robalo 246 Cayman
The Robalo 246 Cayman has casting decks bow and stern with lots of storage underneath. She's a shallow-draft bayboat that's also big enough to take on near-shore operations on most days.

Our test run with the Robalo 246 Cayman powered with a 300 XCA Yamaha reached a top speed of 50.1 mph. She was also quick to plane, doing so in only 3 seconds thanks to the Extended V-Plane hull, and reached 20 mph in 5.3 seconds, and accelerated through 30 mph in 8.7 seconds. She has plenty of bow flare, which should deliver a dry ride in most conditions, and she draws only 12'', remarkable in a boat of this size. More...

Cruisers Sport Series 238 Bow Rider:
Family Dayboat with a Deep Cockpit

Cruisers Sport Series 238 Bow Rider
The Cruisers Sports Series 238 Bow Rider manages to both have a spacious bow riding cockpit and a beach boarding ladder without resorting to designs like a pickle fork, or a split chine, thus keeping the pleasing basic lines of a traditional boat.

With a cockpit depth of about 30" bow to stern and a standard extended swim platform that more than covers the lower unit when in the down position, the Cruisers Sport Series 238 Bow Rider appears to be an exceptionally safe choice for boating families with young children. And with her bow and stern table mounts, 12-person capacity, and head she can be an entertainment platform to rival most pontoon boats her size. More...
