Ocean Alexander 90:
A Motoryacht for Entertaining
And
World Cruising

Ocean Alexander 90 Motoryacht
The Ocean Alexander 90 Motoryacht is a 20-knots plus motoryacht that has two huge entertainment decks and is more practical than many yachts we have seen in class.

The Ocean Alexander 90 Motoryacht looks like a modern motoryacht fit for entertaining corporate tycoons and Class A celebrities -- and she is. But she is much more. This is also a vessel that can take eight people in cruising comfort almost anywhere in the world thanks to her build quality and 3,000-gallon (11,356 L) fuel capacity. But because this semi-displacement motoryacht is powered by twin CAT C32 ACERT 1622-hp engines, she has a top speed of over 20 knots, making her unusually versatile. By the way, a yacht does not have to look like a down-island freighter or a North Sea mailboat to be a world cruiser. This vessel can do it in style. More...

2015 Yamaha 242 Limited S:
Innovation in Jet Boat Design

Yamaha 242 Limited S
The 2015 Yamaha 242 Limited S jet boat brings several new innovations to the market including a new hull design that has dramatically enhanced the ride and handling.

The Yamaha Watercraft Group has brought several innovations to the market with its 2015 240 Series of jet boats which includes the 242 Limited S. One of the items that shined during our test and evaluation was the way in which this model drove and handled. An entirely new hull and deck design along with an “Articulating Keel” delivered a crisp, responsive ride that completely changes the way a boater will look at jet boats. Our report will also look at the Connext Helm Control System, Yamaha’s Quiet Cruise, and her additional key features. More...

Sailfish 275DC:
45.8 MPH with 2 x 150-hp Outboards

Sailfish 275DC
The dual console Sailfish 275DC is the latest entry into the crossover market. Our tests confirmed that twin 150-hp outboards is all she needs for power.

According to our test captain, the variable deadrise hull of the Sailfish 275DC delivers quick planing, good rough water performance and a relatively dry ride. Both anglers and water-oriented families who want a ruggedly-built boat, that does not look like a sportboat -- but can do all the same things -- should check out this report. More...

Nordic Tugs 49:
1,477 NM Range at 8.8 Knots

Nordic Tugs 49
Underway, the Nordic Tugs 49 feels solid and as reliable as her name. Watch the video and discover why.

The Nordic Tugs 49 has what the company designates as a semi-displacement hull, designed for both inland and coastal cruising. At low speed, she conserves fuel and has great range. At high speed, she will travel in the mid-teens. But speed is not what this boat was designed for. Rather, she is intended to be a comfortable cruiser and liveaboard. More...

Mercury Enertia ECO Prop:
33% Better Fuel Consumption at 3000 RPM

Mercury Enertia ECO Prop
Our test of Mercury's Enertia ECO prop showed a 33.8% improvement in mpg at 3000 rpm going 5.1 mph faster as well, compared to the Mercury REV 4 prop.

The Mercury Enertia ECO prop is designed to provide better fuel economy in the moderate cruising speed range -- a critical detail for offshore boats in particular which need to maximize range. The props are manufactured using a proprietary X7 stainless steel alloy that allows a progressive rake to each blade, delivering better bow lift. Larger diameter and more blade area also helps push larger boats. More...

Sea Ray L650 Fly:
Sea Ray Goes Euro-Style

Sea Ray L650
The new Sea Ray L650 Fly ("L" for "Luxury") is literally loaded with features normally seen on the options list by most builders in class.

The Sea Ray L650 Fly has premium upholstery, woodwork, and hardware that Sea Ray feels is all state-of-the-art and will allow her to compete directly against top-tier boats in class. Standard lower helm, Euro-style flybridge, standard hydraulic swim platform, maxed out electronics and lots more mark this boat as fully loaded. Icing on the cake is a standard Seakeeper gyro for greatly reducing rock-and-roll. More...

Regal 2250:
A Long-Term Family Investment

Regal 2250
The Regal 2250 should appeal to kids of all ages. Younger ones will like to use her as a swim platform, and older ones will want to be towed behind her on a tube, skis, or wakeboard. We reckon she'll keep a young family happily boating for years.

This Regal 2250 combines an inviting layout that comfortably seats five people, and when the party is over, the host and hostess can cast off the docklines and head off for some overnight alone time while still remaining comfortable in a cozy interior cuddy cabin. Swivel steps to the walkthrough windshield allow for comfortable foot placement while being able to save space when not in use, and many other convenient features make this a comfortable family sportster for the long haul. Motoryacht Quality in an Express

Cruisers Yachts 540 Sports Coupe
Long-time BoatTEST Content Manager Elisabeth Soltes visits the Cruisers Yachts 540 Sports Coupe to give us a detailed description of her interior.

Moveable aft deck seating, two full galleys, including one on the main deck, and dinner seating for eight -- in two locations -- make the Cruisers Yachts 540 Sports Coupe a natural for entertaining, and stylish use of cherry and wenge wood finishes add a look of luxury to the interior. Best of all, this yacht is truly big for her size. More...

Bayliner 185 Bowrider:
How to Launch and Retrieve

Bayliner 185 Bowrider
We have made a video specially for new boat owners explaining how to launch and retrieve a trailerable boat.

We take the mystery out of launching a boat in a new video explaining best practices. The boat we used to demonstrate the techniques is the Bayliner 185 Bowrider seen above. FYI, the Bayliner 185 Bowrider comes as a complete package with a factory-matched, single-axle painted trailer with disc brakes, tongue jack and a swing-away tongue that makes it a likely fit for most double garages. MJM 29z:
Efficient Design with Downeast Styling

MJM 29z
The MJM 29z is a sterndrive boat, but the swim platform hides the Volvo Penta Duoprop drive and keeps the Downeast boat's profile traditional right to her transom.

The classic design of the MJM 29z is combined with 21st century building practices to create a lightweight, efficient boat that is also pleasing to the eyes of yachtsmen who like this style of day boat. Speeds can exceed 50 knots in the outboard version, according to the company. She can be ordered in either a sterndrive or outboard version. But that is just the beginning of the MJM 29z's story. In a nutshell, she is intended for yachting die-hards who know the difference between understated elegance and wretched excess. More...

Tracker Pro Team 190 TX:
Comfortable and Well-Equipped

Tracker Pro Team 190 TX
The Tracker Pro Team 190 TX is a durable, well-rigged fishing boat that's easy on fuel and surprisingly easy on anglers' bottom and spine in a light chop.

The Tracker Pro Team 190 TX pedestal seats are comfortably padded, and bow and stern swivels can be quickly removed for long runs or for trailering. A recessed livewell at the bow puts the foot control for the trolling motor in a better position to operate just like we find on much more expensive glass bass boats. As regular readers know, when we first tested this boat we were amazed at how comfortable she was in a chop. More...

Jeanneau Merry Fisher 855:
A 28' Outboard Cabin Cruiser

Jeanneau Merry Fischer 855
With a LOA of 28’7” (8.71 m) and a beam of 9’9” (2.97 m), the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 855 is the largest outboard powered boat produced by the company.

We like the Merry Fisher 855 because she reminds us of the carefree days of the mid-1950s in the U.S., when boating was in high gear and people loved getting on the water in anything they could afford. 25' to 29' (7.62 m to 8.84 m) cabin cruisers with single inboard gas engines were popular and few people had -- or wanted -- anything larger. Of course, those boats were all made of wood. The Merry Fisher 855 harks back to those much simplier days and, happily, has greatly improved the breed. Fiberglass, outboard power, and the mid-cabin have all made the Merry Fisher 855 a good boat for the current times. More...

Meridian Yachts 441 Sedan:
A Look From a Woman's POV

Meridian Yachts Meridian 441
For those who haven't figured it out yet, women generally look at boats differently than men. This week's video gives us a woman's point of view (POV) about the Meridian Yachts 441 Sedan.

Two large staterooms below, each with ensuite heads, make the Meridian Yachts 441 Sedan appropriate for families afloat. Both the salon and flying bridge seating are spacious and we particularly like the double-wide companion seat on the flying bridge. The companion will like it, too. More...

The Boston Whaler 350 Outrage is equipped with nearly every imaginable fishing accessory for blue water action, all built to Boston Whaler’s bullet-proof standards. Tahoe 195:
A Sportboat for all Reasons

Tahoe 195
With a capacity for 8 persons, the Tahoe 195 has room for guests, even with the standard cockpit table in place.

The Tahoe 195 has added fishing features making her a true family crossover between catching wakes and catching dinner. Stowable swivel chairs, fore and aft pedestal base locations, starboard under-gunwale rod storage, an aerated bow livewell and wiring for an optional trolling motor all make this boat ready to become an effective fishboat -- but it still has the watersports functionality of a sportboat.
