Here is a picture I took, not from my boat (Chaparral 285 SSi, Twin Mercruiser 5.0l, in fact based on Lago Maggiore in the Northern Italian Lakes) but from onshore hundreds of miles from Italy.
The picture was taken at a holiday resort in Denmark in Northern Europe called Oermaritime Ferieby, near a small town called Ebeltoft on the east side of the Danish mainland. Oermaritime Ferieby translates literally as Oer = the name of the local village; maritime = marine; Ferie = Holiday; by (pronounced 'boo') = small town or village. Oermaritime Ferieby is a development of holiday homes with moorings, but the basin water level is higher than the adjacent sea. The basin is fresh water. This boat was moored just outside of the lock gate system that is used for water access to the complex and to segregate the fresh water from the salt water. I was staying there in the winter for work because we were carrying out experimental helicopter flight tests into flight in icing conditions - that is flying in clouds below freezing, and letting the ice build up on the helicopter to quantify the effects. I am a Test Pilot with AgustaWestland, one of the major helicopter manufacturers in the world, based in Northern Italy.
