Caravelle Boat Company Has New Owners

The Caravelle Crossover 240 is a deck boat with a capacity for 13 persons, this 23’ 8” (7.2 m) boat has the right stuff.

It was announced last month that two brothers have purchased the Caravelle boat company and will soon re-start production. Caravelle Powerboats was a victim of the recession and has been in limited production for about the last year. The company was founded in 1966 and managed to survive recessions, fuel embargos, and high interest rates, but the recent economic meltdown was devastating for the company which required recapitalization in order to ramp up production. BoatTEST.com has tested nine Caravelle boats over the years and has found them to be good quality and in some cases the best performing boats in their class. We are therefore happy to see that its products will once again be available in the market. The company will stay in Americus, GA.

From a Caravelle Powerboats Press Release, Nov 11--

Caravelle Powerboats, a national boat manufacturer, today announced it is under new ownership. Eugene Sak and Duane Sak of Florence, Ala., own and operate several business units that include elevators and metal fabrication, and now add Caravelle Powerboats to their cache.

The Sak brothers, dedicated to the dealer-distribution model, will focus on consumer demand, which is the smaller inboard 18’- 23’ models, and their mission is to continue what Caravelle started over 40 years ago, to deliver high quality, value-priced boats to the American family.

“While over-priced boats are struggling in the market place, Caravelle can happily deliver,” says Eugene Sak when asked why they chose to make this acquisition during a down economy. Duane Sak adds, “A known brand like Caravelle makes it easy for dealers to sell to the cost conscious consumer.”

New ownership went into effect on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, and the Sak brothers wasted no time in bringing the brand, which had limited production since August 2009, back to production.
