Don’t Leave Your Tender Behind...
At first glance this appears to be not so much a yacht tender as a platform for the ultimate in private sunning. Trips from the shore to the yacht are generally short ones but this features a huge sunpad, cruising electronics, and long legs. Well, clearly, this customer knows what he’s doing and he just hasn’t let us in on his plans. But we have to give credit where it is due, this is one cool boat. She is powered by triple Volvo IPS600s. With 2300 L (607.6 gallons) of fuel she’ll have a predicted range of between 450 – 480 nm. She’ll also be equipped with Volvo’s DPS (Dynamic Positioning System) for holding her place on the earth at the touch of a button. (Why not dash to North Africa for the afternoon?)
When Things Get Hot...
Even though it’s full of wide open spaces, we can’t have our guests getting too warm while they’re sunning. So Windy is adding a 7KW Onan generator that will power a 16,000 btu air conditioning system. That should do the trick. And if the sun gets to be too much, then full awnings will cover the aft seating and sun lounge areas. And to maintain her clean, uncluttered lines, a retractable electric bow thruster, retractable hydraulic anchoring system, and a hydraulically retractable reboarding ladder are installed. It gets better. A galley and forward cabin is accessible through the center console. The galley is complete with a refrigerator, and storage cabinetry. The sleeping quarters feature two single berths that convert to a double. There is also a full head. And we can’t have the crew using the same head as the guests, both get separate heads and showers. And lest you think this is an owner recklessly throwing money at a toy, the entire boat is being built “Green”. All wood comes from sustainable forests, decks are constructed from Kebony, which has no harmful effects on the environment and its production is based on a liquid extracted from biowaste. It requires no painting or even maintenance other than normal cleaning.
The Windy Tender will have an LOA of 16.1 m (52.8’), and a beam of 4.5 m (14.7’). Her weight will be in the area of 10,886 kg (24,000 lbs).Clearly this will be much more than just a waterborne taxi to the mother ship. This Windy Tender has range and comfort to offer guests amenities that go well beyond the “tender” moniker. But one thing we do know, this will be the coolest ride.
