Brief Summary

The Tiara 3700 Open is a blend between a cruiser and a fishing machine. As a fish boat she has just about everything you will need when out on the tournament trail, and down below her accommodations are first rate.

Key Features

As a fishing boat her padded cockpit has 72 square feet of fighting space and the deck is reinforced for a fighting chair. The bait-prep station comes complete with a sink, cutting board and tackle center built in. And along the transom there is a large fishbox and livewell built right into the sole. When it comes to getting to the engines you will have no problem with the Tiara 3700. With a push of the button the entire bridge deck opens to reveal a pair of Cat 3408DITAs, the heart of this boat. All fuel consumption numbers are the total for all engines in the boat. Speeds are measured with Stalker ProSports radar gun or GPS. Fuel consumption (gallons per hour) measured with Floscan digital fuel-flow meter or by on-board factory-installed diagnostic instruments. Range is based on 90% of published fuel capacity. Sound levels determined using Radio Shack digital decibel meter on A scale. 68 dBA is the level of normal conversation. Time to plane is measured from start of acceleration to formation of rooster tail behind boat.

Captain's Report

As a fishboat, the 3700 Open has just about everything you’ll need to compete on the tournament trail. With a good list of options the Tiara 3700 allows you to decide if you want a cruiser or fishing boat. Perhaps the most impressive part of the boat is the way you reach the engines. Push a button, and the entire bridge deck rises to reveal the powerplants below. The 3700 comes with a pair of Caterpillar 3408DITAs, and together they put out 870-horses of reliable diesel power. There’s plenty of room between them to perform routine maintenance, and the dipsticks and filters are inboard for easy access.Up on the bridgedeck, the 3700 is classic Tiara, with an L-shaped lounge and nav station across from the helm to starboard. With a big 14-foot beam, the 3700 showed good stability at any angle to the sea. We got a top-end speed of nearly 35 mph on the radar gun, and at best cruise she burned just 36 gallons per hour. That means you can travel about 300 miles on just one trip to the fuel dock. The 3700 is surprisingly light to the touch, and she carves tight, fast turns at speed. She gets up on plane quickly for a boat her size, and once the turbos kick in around 1700 rpm, she’s moving to the fishing grounds or your next port of call. For more information call (616) 392-7163 or visit www.tiarayachts.com.
