By Capt. Steve--
The mission of the Tahoe 195 is to create a deckboat that crosses over between fishing in the morning and enjoying watersports in the afternoon. With her beam carried so far forward, she has a rated capacity for up to 8 persons.
• Fishing features include 2 stowable chairs, fore and aft pedestal base locations, starboard under-gunwale rod storage, an aerated bow livewell and wiring for an optional trolling motor• Aft swim platform with boarding ladder and insulated cooler/storage• Color-keyed polyester Bimini top with drop-down changing curtain• In-floor ski/wakeboard/trolling motor storage
Part of what makes the 195 such a good crossover platform is her ability to transition from watersports to fishing. Most of her fishing features come standard but a few options are available. Standard features include starboard side rod storage with organizer tubes. Two pedestal seats are also standard and can be swapped between two bow positions and a third pedestal base at the aft port quarter. If fishing isn’t the mission for the day then the seats can be tucked away in designated storage. In between the two bow pedestal bases is an in-deck livewell. And the bow is prewired for a trolling motor.
There aren't many fishing options on the list, but the ones that are available focus on trolling motors. Tahoe offers a choice between five different motors. Three wired options range from 54 lb. thrust - 70 lb. thrust. Two wireless options offer choices between 55 – 75 lb. thrust. One item that seems to be missing from both the standard and optional lists would be a fishfinder. Frankly, we’re just as glad that one isn’t offered as a buyer won’t have to be married to a choice being offered from the builder. Now the choices are wide open.
Naturally, any boat is applicable to watersports and the 195 is no exception. But options are available to increase that functionality. A wakeboard tower will raise the towline to increase the ability to catch air coming off the wakes. The tower is offered both with and without racks. But what’s a day on the water without tunes? Tahoe offers different stereo options that are certain to please everyone, and two remote control options to bring the 195 to life.
Tahoe made good use of the stern on the 195 with a U-shaped swim platform wrapping around an aft facing sun pad. In addition to a pedestal seat base to port, there is a wet storage compartment to one side and a concealed four-step reboarding ladder to the other. The entry to the cockpit is to the starboard side and down two steps.
The 195 has a comfortable layout with roomy seating, but the entry from the cockpit is a little cramped. In addition to housing a trash receptacle, the step in from the transom offers marginal space between the L-seating and the helm bucket seat, but this is a fair compromise for increasing seating comfort.
L-seating to port
wraps around a standard cockpit table that is also within reach of the helm bucket seat. Storage is under the length of the L-seat to port and a carry-on 36 quart (34 L) cooler resides under the aft seat.
Tahoe has jumped on the bandwagon of referring to its portside sink as a "refreshment center" but it's a sink nonetheless. The water faucet is connected to a 5 gallon (18.9 L) tank and makes a great place to clean hands, rinse food or just cleanup utensils. The sink drains overboard.
is spaced well apart with the usual accommodations for storage underneath. An additional storage compartment is in the step to the foredeck. An optional bow filler cushion is available to create a forward sunpad.
is also roomy giving it a twofold benefit. It serves as an excellent casting deck with room for two pedestal seats as well as a spacious platform for accessing the water or the beach. An aerated livewell is located between the two pedestal seat bases. A four-step reboarding ladder is to starboard.
console is much like we've seen from Tahoe with full instrumentation consisting of white faced gauges with chrome bezels. A tinted Plexiglas windscreen deflects wind over the operators head. Simulated burl wood accents add a touch of class without the added maintenance of real wood.
With two power options at 220-hp, the Tahoe 195 will take her owners seamlessly between sedate cruising to speeds approaching 55 mph. And as this is a Tahoe, affordability is built-in with prices starting at $33,395.
