The Sea-Doo GTX Limited 215 is targeted at the luxury three-seater personal watercraft buyer who wants 60-mph-plus performance and the latest high-tech accessories, like a braking system and cruise control.Luxury buyers want comfort and a complete package and the GTX Limited 215 comes well-equipped with the new, plush Ergolock with stepped design and a depth finder, a cover, a glove box organizer, a dry bag and a reboarding step. Optional accessories are available to make her more attractive for tow sports.
Ergolock seat with stepped design.
The Ergolock seat provides all riders a full body connection with the watercraft and a more natural position for more comfortable touring and confident cornering. The Ergolock seat design is sculpted to the riders’ bodies with a narrower section between the knees slightly widening towards the rear. The stepped-seating implements rising seating levels for better passenger vision with added lumbar cushioning providing added support for up to three riders that hold them in place better in all conditions.
iTC (Intelligent Throttle Control) System.
The electronic throttle system (This is not related to the throttle but the iBR) allows the rider to literally program how they want the power to be delivered via specific modes including: activity-specific cruise control with Touring, Sport and ECO modes that can be set to accommodate various riding scenarios. Touring is the default setting that offers progressive acceleration for cruising. Sport mode improves acceleration and ECO automatically determines the RPM level delivering the best fuel economy.
iBR (Intelligent Brake & Reverse) System.
The second-generation iBR system is said by Sea-Doo to improve on their industry standard braking system. According to Sea-Doo, the braking system on the GTX Limited 215 lets riders stop up to 160’ shorter than without iBR at 50 mph. When a lever on the left handlebar is squeezed, the throttle immediately drops to in idle and an aluminum brake gate mounted on the transom of the craft drops into the flow of water creating drag and eventually applying reverse thrust automatically to bring the vessel to a stop. Additionally, the system allows for neutral starting and the reverse operation is electronic to improve slow-speed maneuverability.
Electric VTS (Variable Trim System).
Part of an accessories grouping that Sea-Doo calls the Limited Package, this system provides adjustable trim positions that adjust the boat’s attitude.
iControl Learning Key.
This programmable key lets owners limit the craft’s power output so inexperienced riders can learn to operate the GTX Limited 215.
Off-Throttle Assisted Steering (O.T.A.S.).
Provides additional steering input during off-throttle operation for greater slow-speed maneuverability.
RF D.E.S.S. Key.
The Digitally Encoded Security System key has radio frequency technology and a ball-and-socket design.
Automatically retractable mooring lines fore and aft facilitate tying up at the docks.
The GTX Limited 215 measures utilizes the Sea-Doo exclusive S3 hull that stands for stepped, stable and strong and measures 11’6” (353.5 cm) in length with a beam of approximately 4’2” (122.4 cm) and she weighs 894 lbs. (406 kg). Rider capacity is 600 lbs. (272 kg). The deep-V bottom design is stepped to reduce drag.
The Riding Position.
The GTX Limited 215’s footwells are carpeted and the Ergolock seat narrows at the knee area reducing hip strain and the stepped design offers stadium type seating that positions the second and third aft riders higher so he/she can see over the driver’s shoulder. The seat is hinged at the front and it opens on gas struts to provide clear, hands-free access to the engine compartment. At the stern, the swim platform is carpeted and there is a fold-down reboarding step and a ski-tow eye.
The Driving Position.
The tilt handlebars adjust vertically in conjunction with the gauge panel located forward of the handlebars allowing a rider to adjust from sitting to standing with four different positions and the start-stop button is on the handlebar. The throttle trigger is on the right handle and the brake and reverse lever is to the left. A trio of gauges covers 30 operating functions, including fuel level, speed, engine rpm, engine hours, fuel consumption, the forward, reverse neutral indicator and more. The GTX Limited 215 also comes with a depth finder, time/distance to fuel empty and altitude and water temperature indicators. There are also adjustable rearview mirrors on each side of the instrument panel.
The Limited Package.
In addition to the Variable Trim System and upgraded gauge functions, the GTX Limited 215 comes with the Limited Package that includes the aforementioned Speed Ties, a removable dry bag that converts to a backpack, a safety kit, a glove box organizer and a cover for the machine.
For smaller items, the glove box at the dash has the organizer. The dry bag goes in the locker on the bow that has a removable plastic bin and closes with a watertight seal, according to Sea Doo.
Engine and Propulsion.
We haven’t tested the GTX Limited 215 so we don’t have numbers on it yet. Sea-Doo powers the boat with a supercharged 1494-cc Rotax engine with four valves per cylinder and closed cooling. Recommended fuel is 91-octane, but the engine will run on 87-octane. For those looking for more power, there is a 300-hp version with the new Rotax 1630 ACE engine. The jet pump has a stainless-steel impeller and to reduce operation noise, Sea-Doo uses a series of resonators and vibration-absorbing components throughout the boat.
The base price starts at $14,899.
