Brief Summary

During the Newport Boat Show in the fall of 2014, we took a look at the Sabre 42 Salon Express on a bright Friday morning with strong light and shadow. This makes some of the pictures hard to see, but they also pick up some of the textures and ambiance found aboard the boat. We have augmented our snapshots with publicity photos from the builder.

Snapshot Look at the Sabre 42 Salon Express

Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express transom seating
The transom seating in the Sabre 42 Salon Express has a slight "L"-shape making it more comfortable for four people to sit around the hardwood table. The addition of two folding chairs provides al fresco dining for six.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express settee and table
The L-shaped settee in the 42 Salon Express comes with a standard table with a high-gloss finish and inlaid design.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express salon
The boat is appropriately named "Salon Express" as can be seen in this publicity photo. Both the standard companion and helm seats can be turned around to face the conversation in the salon which maximizes seating. In the background, double sliding stainless steel-framed doors open up the view. We like the athwardships battens on the overhead that simulate beams. Port and starboard side windows lower.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express helm chairs
Sabre knows that most boats in this class are purchased by couples who like to share the piloting and navigational fun of boat operation. It is for that reason that the 42 Salon Express has two identical standard Stidd 500N chairs placed at the helm. Note the optional side door, to make single-handed operation easier.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express mid level galley
Sabre has located its "mid-level" galley to port, down two steps. The overhead is open which brings in light and keeps the cook part of the action on deck. Note the glass stovetop with refrigerator and freezer drawers underneath.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express microwave
Another view of the galley shows the near-perfect location of the microwave oven as well as the counter above that’s open to the salon.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express galley location
By placing the galley at mid-level, Sabre is able to eliminate the 4 to 5 steep steps down to the galley that makes food service to the salon and aft deck more difficult. This image shows the convenient location of the galley.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express booth dinette
In the model we visited, opposite the galley was a booth dinette large enough for four adults. Most bulkheads and cabinetry is cherry. This space may be fitted out as a second stateroom instead of a dinette.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express guest cabin
This publicity image shows the optional guest cabin to starboard which has two pocket doors for privacy when needed.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express master stateroom
The master stateroom is located forward and is surrounded by cherry cabinets and bulkheads.
Sabre Yachts 42 Salon Express head
The yacht has a single head with separate shower stall. Sabre also builds a 42’ hardtop express that should be seen.
