Captain's ReportTested By Capt. Bob SmithThe Fiesta Vee 300 is the first in the Rinker line that offers twin power plants and is their first in the wide body line of cruisers. New from the water line up, she offers more cubic feet of space for entertainment and accommodations than just about any of her competitors. The 300 is heavier than her competition, which helps delivers a smoother, more stable ride. In addition this model also has a larger fuel capacity than most in its league. Deck FeaturesTopside, you have a standard windlass with plow anchor and 160 feet of rode. Getting to the anchor system is easy up molded-in steps on the dash and past the walkthrough windshield. The helm station is set up well, and our test boat included an optional GPS screen in the center. Being six feet tall I was a little surprised to find my feet dangled when I sat and did not use the angled foot rest. With the bolster up, standing to drive or back down, I had plenty of room. Functional PlatformSemi circular port side seating and full-size aft seating allow everyone to enjoy the ride together. While a carry-on cooler is standard at the wet bar, you can opt for a refrigerator or ice maker. You get a four fender storage section on the back of the stern wall and you have access to the storage under the bench seat from the swim platform, which will be quite handy if you opt for the dingy package. There is a hot and cold swim shower for rinsing off back here as well.Heading BelowThe cabin entry door has a separate smoked plex door with screens built into it for fresh air at anchor. I like this arrangement better because all-screen doors tend to bind and get bent out of shape quickly on board. In the cabin below are berths with privacy curtains, a full galley with a 2 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer, microwave, U-shaped seating and more. A 13-inch TV/DVD combination with remote handles video entertainment on board. The stern berth is spacious, adding to the huge feeling of accommodations below. Even in the head, you have enough space to comfortably shower.SpecsThe all-new Fiesta Vee 300 measures out at 31’6” length overall. Her beam width is 10’6” and she weighs in at approximately 11,100 lbs. with standard gear and engine package. She has a fuel capacity of 150 gallons and a fresh water capacity of 33 gallons, which should be good enough for a weekend on the hook in your favorite cove. Cabin headroom is great with over six feet, and even the head has stand up room. There’s room aboard to accommodate up to six people on board. Bridge clearance is 9’6” and draft is 22” with the out drive up and 36” with the out drive in the operating position.Performance and RideWhen we tested the new Fiesta Vee 300, we found her handling to be excellent. She responded to the helm quickly and cut deep turns without feeling like I had to throttle back to stay in control. We found her most economical speed at 3000rpm traveling 17.7mph for a range of 119 miles. At 4000rpm she was cruising at 33.8mph and burning 25.4gph for a range of 180 miles. At wide-open-throttle turning 5050rpm she ran a top speed of 44.4mph with a burn rate of 37gph, which gave us a range of 162 miles. When we tested the Fiesta Vee 300, the temperature was hovering around 59 degrees with a cold rain on the way. The wind was blowing at 5-10 mph and there was some chop on the fresh water lake in northern Indiana. The list of standard features and factory options you can add to put your own label on this fine craft is lengthy and impossible to fit in this limited space. Let me just say that Rinker has done a fabulous job of delivering a mid-range express cruiser that comes stocked with most everything you would want, and also offers the extras you might need. It is obvious the designers are boaters and that Rinker does a good job of listening to its owners and taking advantage of their ideas.
