1x320-hp MerCruiser MX 6.2 MPI gas sterndrive
This sporty bowrider will seat up to 10 passengers and will top out at almost 49-mph with a single MerCruiser 320 HP V-8.
A plush L-shaped aft bench offers comfortable seating and plenty of dry stowage down below.
The Montura’s flip-open center windshield allows easy passage from the bow seating to the aft transom gate.
The ergonomic helm station features a tilt wheel and places all critical controls, accessory switches and analog information within easy reach.
An enclosed head extends your time away from the dock on those long summer days out on the water.
The 25-foot bowrider class is filled with many high quality boats that provide many features and options but only one has an exceptionally high freeboard and greater interior depth than the rest. That boat is the Monterey 248LS Montura.
The 248LS Montura's hull features a 20-degree deadrise and exceptionally high freeboard giving it a solid, stable, and dry ride. This also translates into more interior room and depth which means more family, friends, and gear aboard! It also exudes a stronger sense of safety which is always welcomed whether you have junior boaters or land lubbers aboard.
At the bow there's a boarding ladder for easy beach access and the comfortable, well padded and deep bow seating has a cooler under the front seat and storage under the lounge seats to add convenience to any day out on the water. The front lounge seats are actually contoured in an ergonomic fashion that greatly increases comfort whether sunning or just relaxing. There’s good storage in the floor for long items like skis or fishing rods and the walk-through windshield and windscreen protect you from the elements while underway. There’s even a neatly recessed door that closes off the bow for those chilly days out on the water.
At the Helm
The helm is well designed and sporty with all instrumentation and controls within easy view and operation. The helm and passenger bucket seats swivel and have thigh bolsters and the steering wheel tilts for exact comfort while navigating. Just forward of the passenger seat is an enclosed head that will extend your hours away from the dock. Just aft of that seat is a large carry on cooler for beverages and there’s a second smaller cooler in the starboard side further aft, a great idea for separating drinks and food!
Storage is abundant under the aft lounge seats and perfect for safety gear or additional lines and fenders. The floor locker also widens in the cockpit for bulkier items like a full cover or life jackets. Note that the floor locker extends the entire length of the boat so that extra long items can be stowed with ease. There’s also a wet bar behind the helm seat with a double sink and storage beneath.
The transom door makes it an easy transition to the swim platform that is wide and close to the water. Boarding from the water is quick using the built in and concealed dive ladder and you’ll have plenty of room for lines and fenders in the transom storage bin.
With a length of 24’6”, beam of 8’6”, and deep-V hull, the 248LS cuts across the water with unmatched assurance.
On the test track we throttled the 248 to a top speed of 48.8 mph at 5000rpm with the MerCruiser 6.2 liter engine. Best cruise was calculated to be 38.5 mph burning only 16.8 gallons per hour. With the 82 gallons of fuel onboard, you can run this boat nearly 170 miles between gas stops. The 248 is agile too with a quick time to plane of only 5.8 seconds!
The 248LS is a pleasure to run and feels very safe and dry due to the freeboard and hull design. This boat is an excellent choice for boaters who desire some added confidence and dryness whether it be out playing on their favorite lake, cruising the ICW, or even near shore adventures. There’s even a wide choice of color options and combinations that make this boat not only a good running vessel, but a very attractive one as well.
