Captain's ReportBy Captain Rob SmithThe down and dirty facts of the Aqua Patio 220DF shows she is a typical trailerable 8’6” wide by 23’1” long with Strata Tech Chassis to smooth out the ride. It has 25” dual pontoons and a marine plywood deck covered in marine grade carpet or my choice, the optional vinyl if you just want to fish and don’t want to have the joy of cleaning fish guts out of the carpet. The basic layout accommodates three Total Comfort Seating loungers, a captain’s chair and two fishing chairs on posts at the stern. A total of three gates means you can just about dock toon this anyway you want and still allow easy entry. From the bow it is a fairly straight shot to the fishing station at the stern.Navigation lights are built into the side panels which eliminate one or two toe stubbers on the bow. When the sun is high overhead on a scorching summer day, you will appreciate the standard canvas cover. What is really cool is the powered canvas Bimini you can add! I really hate setting up most canvas' on boats but that would make me happy for sure.
The helm is simple yet complete with a hour meter, compass, volts, speedo, tach, and fuel gauge to monitor the 30 gallon fuel tank. While I am thinking about the fuel, let me tell you that this model uses up to a 150-hp outboard. Godfrey sports quite an impressive list of engine companies to choose from: Mercury, Evinrude, Honda, Yamaha and even an all electric Torqueedo.Depending on the model and fuel burn you are looking for, you have options! As a fishing platform, I would expect a fish finder/depth finder as a standard feature, but this is offered as an option (M68C GPS w/color, X67C color). It does have a 25-quart carry-on cooler, but it does not have an aerated bait well, nor did I see it as an option.Bottom line; the Godfrey Aqua Patio 220DF is a solid platform from a reliable builder (since 1958). You have nearly limitless options for rigging engines and some really cool options like a power bimini. Buck the platform up to a triple tube package and add more power and speed. Then you can also power with a Volvo Penta or MerCruiser sterndrive.
Warranty on the 220DF: Structural Lifetime Warranty (pontoons, rail system, underdeck). If you sell your ride, the warranty is transferable for up to ten years from date of original purchase to the second owner. Vinyl and carpeting carries a 5 year warranty and the wood components (ie: decking) also have the same lifetime warranty with transferable option.
