The Bennington 207 Si
The 207 is a combination fish/cruise pontoon platform. It proved it can do both equally well.
You can see here the extra room you get aft for fishing. Two removable bass chairs can go here.
There are actually 3 of these that come with the 207. They can be easily removed when in the cruising mode.
The engine on the 207 is mounted on an extension, which serves two purposes. First, it provides better maneuverability, and second, it frees up space aft for more fishing floorspace.
The starboard-side ABS helm puts all controls within easy reach. It is also capable of handling a bracket-mounted LCD fishfinder.
The Bennington 207 Si is a mid-size pontoon boat outfitted to please both the fisherman and folks just wanting a good time on the lake. With features designed for the serious fisherman, the 207 is practically like taking the fishing pier anywhere you want to go on the water.
The bow rail runs right to the edge on the Bennington 207 to maximize on board deck room. But you will notice that docking lights are nicely integrated into the corners. A forward door makes landing on the beach easy. To the port and starboard at the bow are convenient cup holders flanked by rod holders to give your fishing arm a break.
The forward fishing deck provides two dedicated fishing chairs and another seat to the rear that doubles as a live well. With no bench seats at the bow, all the room is used for fishing space. The live well has its own pump and aerator.
At the Helm
The control console features a full set of instruments in easy to see black on white gauges. Toggle switches are used for other systems onboard and are backed-up by circuit breakers instead of fuses. To the left of the steering wheel is a marine grade radio/CD player. There is also a tilting steering wheel suitable for standup driving. The plush captain’s seat swivels. To the right of the steering wheel is a convenient cupholder and Garmin Fishfinder 80
Plenty of Seating
For those who aren’t fishing, the stern lounge area features a comfortable and roomy L-Shaped couch. A small, removable table is at the center. Like all Bennington Pontoon boats, storage space under the rotoformed seats is generous. They are plastic lined and self draining.
On the starboard side is a large locker that is big enough to store skies or fishing poles.
Just because this pontoon boat is outfitted for fishing doesn’t mean some privacy isn’t needed. Bennington has included a pop-up changing room near the stern. The hydraulic lifts make the process of raising the curtains a snap.
The stern features another fishing platform with one pedestal seat. A cupholder as well as a fishing rod holder are conveniently nearby.
The Rail around the Bennington 207 is just under two feet tall. It’s a bit short, but just tall enough to keep young kids safely inside. A small door leads to the stern boarding area and a fold down ladder.
The Yamaha 60 mounted on the Bennington 207 included a special high-thrust propeller. The oversized propeller provides more aggressive acceleration and performance than a standard propeller. The propeller’s hub is actually larger than the foot of the engine, so water flows through the propeller’s hub.
Equipped with a Yamaha 60 horsepower outboard, we recorded a top speed of 20.2 miles per hour at 5,800 rpm. At its 13 miles per hour cruise speed the Yamaha turns 4,000 rpm and delivers 7.4 miles per gallon. That gives a cruise range of more than 173 miles.
