Sterndrive lower units have faced serious challenges during the last 50 years as anyone who has owned one in saltwater can attest. Volvo Penta has introduced its solution to this problem -- its a new lower unit called "Ocean X." The whole unit has a titanium-ceramic coating which has been applied using a SOTA electro-deposition process. Volvo Penta says its new drive is up to four times more corrosion resistant than conventional drives in saltwater.
