With a single 30-hp Yamaha 4-stroke, our test boat hit a top speed of nearly 30 mph, and its wide beam offered great lateral stability.

On other 13 footers you'd be steering with the outboard's tiller arm in the stern, but not here. This helm console is to starboard for easy fore/aft walking, and its an easy reach from the 3-person af

Edgewater 135 ST Captain's Report

The 135 ST Makes a Great Tender or Day Cruiser

Built rugged for both work and play, Edgewater’s 135 ST makes a great tender or perfect day cruiser. Built tough by one of the most quality conscious manufacturers in the industry, the 135 ST is not only durable and meant to last, but it also comes with a LIFETIME structural hull warranty. Edgewater builds their boats with foam composites and high quality materials, and the 135 is no exception. In fact, that foam filling makes her virtually unsinkable! She boasts the fit and finish of all the Edgewater line, and that’s easy to see by taking just one close look at her.

At the bow there’s a large non-skid casting platform with storage beneath for fishing or add the optional pad and it converts into a large sundeck. Just aft are twin bench seats that feature insulated storage beneath as well.

The helm console on the starboard side of the boat features Teleflex no feedback steering, Yamaha tachometer and throttle, and compass. These are standard items on the 135 ST, something the competition has yet to catch on to. We also really like the recessed quick release fire extinguisher on the side of the helm console.

The rear bench seats three comfortably and has storage beneath. The rear backrest is high and comfortable as well giving the 135 ST an advantage and an added safety feature. There’s and optional swim platform available as well with an integrated dive ladder.

Out on the test track we achieved a top speed of 27.4 mph with the Yamaha 30 hp four stroke engine. The fuel is supplied by a portable 6-gallon tank which makes refueling easy even if you’re far from the fuel dock. The boat ran stable and dry thanks to the high bow and the additional lateral strakes in the hull that add to its tracking ability. We did notice that at slow speed but still on plane the boat tended to skid sideways a little, but Edgewater reassured us that even larger strakes were now part of the mold to compensate this effect.

With an overall length of 13’6” and a wide beam of 6’3”, the 135 rides across open water with little pounding or slapping….unlike some of her competitors. She weighs just 570 pounds making it easy to winch her on deck or pull up on the beach.

All told, the 135 ST is a great boat for serving as a tender for a yacht or for a lake boat for the family to scoot around in. She’s easy to run, very maneuverable for her size, and is built with quality to ensure years of trouble free service for her owners.
