Mercury Re-Engineers
Verado Outboards

With Multiple Improvements, Verados Burn up to 20% Less Gas, says Mercury

The new 300-hp Verados enjoy the new engineering and machinery of the other upgraded four-strokes in the Verado lineup. Still, four outboards are four outboards. Best mileage for this SeaVee 39-footer: about 1 mile per gallon.

Mercury has taken some heat from its competitors – never mind its customers -- for the Verado four-stroke's thirst for hydrocarbons, especially at WOT. Now Mercury has given the supercharged Verado lineup a tune-up—one that company officials say will give all of its four-strokes a dramatic improvement in fuel economy.  What's been going on in Fond du Lac? July 4th Celebrations wouldn't be complete without paying homage to the vessels
that made it all possible

295' German Navy Training Ship Gorch Foch II.

Over 1,000 spectator boats – 10 to 1 power over sail – were cruising the east passage of Narragansit Bay July 1st to start Newport, Rhode Island's Independence Day celebration off with a bang a few days early. There is nothing like the sight of majestic square-riggers, schooners, and replicas of great ships of the past to get the blood flowing in any boater – including powerboaters.

Thanks to Hunt Yachts, you, too, can see those wonderful ships...Tall Ships Video

Yamaha 200-hp

Suzuki 200-hp
What do these three Outboard Brands have in Common?

Well-known, high-volume names such as Four Winns, Cobalt, Regal, Sea Ray, and Boston Whaler made the NMMA's 2007 CSI Winners list — but so did some low-volume builders such Albemarle, Carolina Classic, and Grand Banks.  In the outboard engine category, only brands made in Japan were CSI winners. Paris Hilton Discovers Boating
Celebrity and Ex-Con Finds Fulfillment Afloat

Paris caught doing a little maintenance on her boyfriend's new trawler.

Now that everything that Paris Hilton does rates headline news coverage on the venerable "CBS Evening News" and "NBC's Nightly News" it is time for the BoatTEST.com Weekly Newsletter to report that Paris has discovered boating!

In a recent exclusive interview with our LA. Correspondent, Don Aronow III, Paris revealed that she discovered seafaring life during her 16 days in the slam when all she had to read were some old boating magazines. "I'm a new woman," she said.  "I love the boating life...the sun, the water, the rustle of the breeze in my hair and through my ears." Paris later said that she is planning on buying a new boat of her own as soon as she can find an empty slip in Marina Del Rey.
