Zeus on the Loose

Zeus Project Manager Gives First Video Tutorial

At least eight boatbuilders--including non-Brunswick companies--will be offering yachts from 30 to 50 feet this October with the new Zeus propulsion system. Over the next few weeks, BoatTEST will feed you a plethora of information about this new innovative inboard system that utilizes joystick technology at the helm and a break-away drive pod system. BoatTEST editors spent an entire day testing the Zeus system in a 44-foot express cruiser at the Cummins-MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) headquarters in Charleston, SC. Click here to learn about how the Zeus system differs from Volvo-Penta's Inboard Performance System (IPS).

EPA Gives Boaters 45 Days to Complain
New, Costly Federal Permitting Scheme Gains Bureaucratic Momentum

Yousay it can't happen here?  Don't fool yourself. 15 years ago Congresspassed a bill to "tax the rich boat buyers" and ended up putting tensof thousands of blue collar marine workers on the street for two years, and nearly killed an industry. The rich decided not to pay the "10%Luxury Tax" and saved their boat money. Is there any reason for us to thinkgovernment has gotten any more reasonable, fair, smart, or even more luckyon our behalf during the last 15 years?

The NMMA President saysyou'll be paying $800 for EPA permits if something isn't done. Nowthe EPA has served notice that the clock is ticking...read full story.
