Find the Best One for You

For the last eight years the fastest-growing segment in boating has been the "Pontoon Boat" category. More of these boats are sold each year than any other single type except bass boats. Why? What is going on?

The new breed of pontoon boats come with virtually all of the amenities you'd find on some express cruisers, such as heads, microwave ovens, and cruising canvas. See 27 pontoon boats we've tested... click here.

The Future of Boating
The Tough Challenges Facing the Sport
in the 21st Century

The U.S. boating industry has to deal with potentially destructive court rulings, national and international construction standards, a sleepy Congress, rising costs, diminishing marinas and water access, and the Dept of Homeland Security, among a myriad of other threats to the Sport. Recently we interviewed industry president Thom Dammrich on these issues:

Bill Introduced to Exempt Boats
From Clean Water Act
Now it's YOUR turn to Help
Get This Passed
Nine months after an onerous court ruling, a bill was introduced in Congress last week by Representatives Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) and Candice Miller (R-Mich.) that would exempt recreational boats from expensive Clean Water Act permitting requirements.

See NMMA President Thom Dammrich's video interview on this subject.

The newly introduced legislation, the Recreational Boating Act of 2007, would enshrine into law the 34-year-old EPA exemption for recreational boats.
We urge you to write your Congressional representatives to support the passage of this act. We have linked to software that lets you send messages to Congress in just a few seconds...click here.

Correction
Publishing is never a victimless crime and last week we slaughtered the pronunciation of the boat company Tigé. We apologize to the folks in Abilene, Texas. The brand is actually pronounced, according to the company: "Tye-guh." Just listen to our captain in his boat test – he has it right!
