I run a 2006 115 E Tech outboard on my 19' Costa Boat. It has about 500 hours on it now. I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it. Most of the other owners who bought the same engine and have had the same experience have switched to Yamahas or Suzukis and are much happier. Unfortunately, I can't afford to do this and will be stuck with the problems for the forseeable future. Count me as a VERY UNHAPPY Evinrude owner!

C. Myrick 10/26/2009 4:29:11 PM
1978 48hp on a 17ft bass tracker, Many Many hours no problems still runs great. routine maintenance only.

J. Gordon 10/25/2009 10:32:19 AM
115 etec on a b20 sundance 40 mph 320 hours no trouble only in the shop one time for 300 hour service $400.00 not bad love it

S. Srigley 10/24/2009 7:41:53 PM
I have a '08 150hp E-tec on my '08 GT180 bowrider. Awesome!!!!! Starts immediately, quiet, no smoke, great fuel economy. All my neighbours comment on how quiet the motor is and excellent hole-shot for watersports. Wouldn't change my etec for anything.

V. Miller 10/23/2009 12:33:04 PM
I love my 150 E-Tec 2008 on my 195CC Triumph! No problems at all - I love just turning the key! Enjoyed not having to break in the engine. The performance is great, quiet and very economical....wouldn't have any other motor....I sell boats/motors for a living...and this was my choice! V. Miller

C. Hulthen 10/23/2009 5:05:33 AM
A 1999 40hp twostroke that I am very happy with. I have had the motor for three years and I haven't had any problems at all.

K. Evans 10/22/2009 10:41:29 PM
I have two 06 75hp E-Tecs on my 55ft house boat. I have had no problems compared to the four strokes that I replaced. The three year service interval can't be beat. They start right up and use very little fuel for the boat they are pushing.

P. Parise 10/22/2009 7:30:02 PM
I have a 16' sylvan with a '05 90hp e-tec. It replaced my old '89 Evinrude 90hp. This was the best upgrade ever. Less noise, better fuel economy, better hole shot and not a single problem since owning it. Would not think twice about purchasing another e-tec.

J. Bonardi 10/22/2009 9:32:27 AM
26 stoker w/twin 2006 225 ho's. If you can get past the numerous updates, these engine are great. Wished they would have worked out the bugs before releasing them. Real hassle to take boat back for updates.

M. Craig 10/22/2009 8:55:20 AM
I have a 04 Wellcraft 35 CCF w/triple 250 FICHT's. I have put 1023 hours on them and have had 0 problems with them. They are quiet and strong runners. I run the s#*t out of them and they love it. They weight less and use less fuel then my buddies 4 strokes (Yamadogs). Would'nt trade them for anything else.

S. Wilson 10/22/2009 8:06:24 AM
I Have a 19' intercoastal with a 2007 150hp E-Tec and it is great has not missed a beat ant fault it

R. Vogel 10/22/2009 6:56:18 AM
I have a 15' aluminum jon boat that i bought in 08 with a 25 tohatsu which i didn't like due to erratic idle and hard starting. traded for a 40 e-tec which i wouldn't trade for anything. gets better fuel econmy than the25 and is smooth running, quiet and extremely fast starts every time, love it !!!

J. Bonet Vidal 10/22/2009 2:42:44 AM
Juan Bonet I have a Hydra Sports 2500Vx with twin 200 Hp Evinrude E-tech from year 2007, I am pretty happy with the engines they are smooth, silent and brilliant, the only problem in Mallorca is that there is no good service of Evinrude, there is one guy from "Nautica Valero" who is the only one who has a bit of a clue but he is so unreliable that you cant count on him to come, that’s the problem with them here in Mallorca, apart of that I have not had any problems with the engines, they do me around 1.3 mpg and I am really happy.

D. Smith 10/21/2009 9:39:50 PM
Bought a Lund 2005 and swaped out the Merc, put a 2006 40 Evinrude E-Tech on the back. Boated since 66 with my own stuff and this motor is bullet proof... FANTASTIC is the only description needed.. on both fuel economy and performance.. I spoiled now and Evinrued os the only way to go.. Out of 10 I'll give it 11... just awsome .... Doug

J. Dawbin 10/21/2009 9:02:47 PM
Bought a used Fourwinns last year with a 1995 175hp Evinrude, motor has lots of power and is way quieter than my 82 Mercury was.

R. Snodgrass 10/21/2009 8:35:54 PM
after extensive comparison shopping (2 cyle vs. 4 cycle, yamaha vs. evinrude), i repowered a 24' grady white walkaround w/ a 3oo h.p. e-rude and am very happy with its performance.

B. Barry 10/21/2009 7:01:26 PM
In 2003 bought new Evinrude 150 outboard to power new 21.5 Aquasport Osprey bowrider. 200+ hrs later not one problem. Great engine! RC Barry

J. WOODWARD 10/21/2009 6:51:08 PM
I have a 2005 75 ETEC on a 16' Crestliner repowering from a 50hp 4 stroke. Picked up 10MPH and uses no more than the other engine unless I do a lot of WFO running

J. Mendenhall 10/21/2009 6:46:59 PM
I have a 2006 22.4 foot wellcraft coastal with a 225 hp evinrude e tec, very satisified with the perfomance and dependability. I also would not have anything but a evinrude or johnson.

D. Jacks 10/21/2009 5:34:28 PM
Correction,...won't have anything BUT an Evinrude!

D. Jacks 10/21/2009 5:26:48 PM
I have a late 1960's Fastwin 18 Evinrude on a 1973 Sea Nymph 14R 14 ft. utility-v bottom. My motor was well cared for,...bought it used. It runs very well and I am pleased with it. Sure,I have looked at Yamaha,Honda, and even owned a couple Mercs, but without a doubt,my Evinrude is best. I had a couple Johnsons, too, but still I like Evinrude best and will have anything but an Evinrude. As long as my Fastwin 18 keeps a going,I am hanging on to her. Should she give up the ghost,I'll just get another Evinrude!

J. Trent 10/21/2009 5:08:55 PM
I've had two of these on my 22' sailboat. The first was new and came with the boat. The second was second or more hand, 1974, long shaft, and 41/2 hp. The first was probably a 9hp made in 1980, when I bought the boat. Both were best used as anchors because neither liked to start. Glad to get rid of them.

B. Amering 10/21/2009 4:25:18 PM
I have 150 Etec (07), great engine no problems with over 70 hours. Love the 300 hour maintenance schedule AND no motor oil changes like the 115 HP Mercury 4 stroke (08) I had.

D. Baran 10/21/2009 4:07:44 PM
D. Baran I bought boat and motor 150 E-TEC 2008, boat is Triumph 215cc. It is the easiest to winterize and it's a

A. Cucinelli 10/21/2009 3:57:54 PM
Factory packaged 200 H.O. etec on a HydraSports 202DC. 2006 model This is a trouble free motor on a great boat.

T. Toskas 10/21/2009 3:28:14 PM
I selected a 60 E-TEC to power my 17 foot Triumph on a small freshwater lake. Ease of maintainance was my reason.

T. Rockel 10/21/2009 3:16:40 PM
T. Rockel I have a 1996 Johnson (same as Evinrude) 150HP FastStrike on a 16 foot Cadorette ski/speed boat. The motor has been flawless since new with not one single problem. And the motor has not lost even 1 MPH in top speed since it was new. This is the 3rd Johnson we have owned over the years since 1979 and they have all been amazingly reliable. And my 1981 Johnson 15HP still runs like a top with tonnes of hours on it. Wouldn't by anything else.

W. Daniel 10/21/2009 2:51:15 PM
I have a 2008 50 Evinrude E-TEC on a 1995 Boston Whaler 13 Dauntless center Console. Wow!!, I have been really impressed, starts first time, no smoke, great on gas, and love the torque, my little Whaler will jump on plane, I selected this over a 4-stroke for two main reasons, the 3-yr. no maintaince and the punch and torque of a 2-stroke, it just can't be beat. I have a 26ft. Chaparral with a 375H.P. Merc. bravo III drive, yes that is a much larger, nicer boat, however, nothing puts a smile on my face more than hitting the throttle on the E-TEC and holding on!

R. Volpe 10/21/2009 2:40:37 PM
I have had a 150 Evinrude with Ficht direct injection since it was new in 2000. It has never required anything other then routine tune ups. Matched to a Hurricane 22 deck boat it's a great combination. I've owned everything from large convertibles to dinghies continuosly since 1968(even had a blow boat) and this has been my favorite.

C. Vitsas 10/21/2009 2:01:49 PM
I have a 25hp. 2010 Etech on a 20 foot Sylvan pontoon due to horsepower restrictions and have sufficent low end torque with a top speed of 18mph.at 4700rpm. Excellent motor for trolling at 600rpm with a speen of 1.3mph. Fuel consumption about 50% less compared to a four stroke 9.9 Johnson. Holds RPM at every level. Highly recommend and very satisfied.

C. Myntti 10/21/2009 2:01:30 PM
I grew up with a five horse Evinrude we had on our steel rowboat on Eagle's Nest lake in northern Minnesota. My grandfather purchased it in probably 1940. It's been used every summer since then. It still works just fine.

T. Francis 10/21/2009 1:59:34 PM
2006 200 HO ETEC Saltwater edition on a 2000 20' Ranger bay boat. Couldn't be more pleased with the engine and it's performance. Smooth quiet idle for trolling, tremendous power on take off (4 blade 14.5/19), smooth tracking on tilt while running, very low oil use and extremely efficient fuel usage - 3.68 GPH on average use. Over 250 hours without a hitch. Prior engine was a 2000 200 OMC Evinrude FICHT which also ran well from day one. Also have a 90 horse ETEC on a 2004 180VS Ranger bass boat with over 400 hours - not a burp. Same comments as above. Advanced technology that actually works. Would never go to four stroke again.

D. Retzlaff 10/21/2009 12:53:07 PM
I have an '04 Rude 200 hp on my Ranger 619. It has hundreds of hours on it and I must say it has always run perfect. No dead spots, no smoke, great mpg. Runs at 64mph up on the pad which is kinda fun for a walleye guy. Wish it was as quiet as the new tech Etec's at idle though.

D. Priest 10/21/2009 12:33:14 PM
I own a 26 foot Bennington Pontoon boat. I opted for the Evinrude 225 HO motor rather than go with the Yamaha which was standard. I have not had any problems whatsoever and have over 100 hours on the motor. Starts right up and I can go as slow as 800 rpms for trolling and it will go up to 46 miles an hour at Lake Powell with 8 people on board. Very happy.

K. Kellum 10/21/2009 12:03:03 PM
I have a 2005 40HP E-Tec on a 16'Duro Boat. I bought it used 3 years ago,we have not had the first problem with it. It starts on the first bump of the starter,it is very quiet and sips gas. We could not be more pleased with this engine.

H. Winstead 10/21/2009 11:43:54 AM
HWW, I have a 2007 Stratos 285 proxl (18'-6" long boat) with a 2007 Evinrude E-TEC HO 150 hp. It has been a great combo it gets great fuel mileage when runing all out it gets about 4 miles to the gallon. With a 25 pitch prop. it goes about 65 miles per hour on GPS (no jack plate). AS far as problems with how it runs none yet. It has pretty much been as advertised no maintiance and low cost of ownership. I could not be any happier or more satisfied.

G. Jorda 10/2/2009 5:50:49 PM
GJ Have a '80 Grady 20' Overniter and repowered from 175 Merc to 175 Etec in 2008. Fuel economy is great, cruise at 3200 doing 25mph, starts immediately, no smoke, have to look at the tach to make sure its idling its so quiet. Friend has a 150 Yama 4 stroke that shifts like a kid with his first stick shift car, my Etec shifts like silk, quiet, good on oil, 100 hrs very happy.

J. H 9/26/2009 8:40:10 AM
I had a 35 hp on a Monark 17' for 29 years. It was a great motor and I never had to do any major repairs on it. I passed it down to my son who is still using it as a duck boat without a problem.

H. Troutner 9/24/2009 3:44:45 PM
In 2005 brought a 1996 17" boston whaler Montauk with a 1996 70 HP Evenrude. Maintained it by the book and it runs great.

T. rittenhouse 9/24/2009 9:19:25 AM
I own an 2009 etec 175 that i run on a 20 ft key west dual console. engine is outstanding! i bought it in oct 2008 as a repower to a evin 115 and it was BLAST OFF! I love the etec for its power and fuel efficiency.

T. Whitt 9/24/2009 5:23:31 AM
The only outboard motors that have been fantastic in every respect. I now have had 2 E-tecs a 2006 60hp and a 2008 175hp ... both motors are bulletproof and WOT is SOP.

R. Foss 9/23/2009 10:22:56 PM
We love our E-tec 115. It was a re-power on our 20' center console. It starts and runs beautifully. Winterization is a snap. Fuel economy is outstanding. It's quiet while underway. Wouldn't trade it!

R. Miller 9/23/2009 6:56:33 PM
We run E-Tecs on our rental boats and charter boats and even our renters can't reck them. Our Charter boat has 640 Hours and it and still running like the day it was taken out of the box. Love these motors!

J. Zottoli 9/23/2009 5:25:36 PM
I have a 2007 225 hp etec no problems to talk about with motor at all about 250 hrs. only problem I can speak of is tight shift lever. not as smooth as old Yamaha lever. 704 if I a'm not wrong. Very quite. can have a conversation while running.

S. Ulrich 9/23/2009 5:15:43 PM
I have a re-powered 1984 Grady 22 foot Seafarer. The original was a carb 225 Evinrude and I replaced with a 225 E tech. Fuel is great probalby half the previous model for consumption At crusing speed about 4000 RPM burns about 10 gallons per hour per flow meter. Full throttle at a max rpm of 4800 gives about 36 miles per hour with about 18 gallons per hou.( previous max with the older carb versions was about 28 mph and myuch more fuel. Sips oil using the E tech 100 oil only use 2.5 gallons in a season here in NJ. Performance, speed and economy all are personified by this beauty. Starts immediately every time first time after 4 years of service from the day I bought it. Love the winterization process. start, push a button ,stop, position throttle start and it automatically injects the same engine oil for winterization oil and shuts off. What a concept. Cant buy a better engine. Stephen A. Ulrich New Jersey

T. McCray 9/23/2009 3:36:06 PM
T.McCray I have twin 250 e-tec's on my 30' scarab tournament and other than the Lorance gauges there are no problems. I fish kingfish tournament in Florida and allways go wide open till I start trolling. they burn .6 gallons per hour trolling. I have just hit 300 hours and don't know how much to service both engines will be.

C. Hershberger 9/23/2009 3:08:21 PM
I've got a 2006 50hp E-tec on a 22' crest pontoon. Mostly use it for cruisin' and love it! If necessary it'll push me along at about 21mph. Not bad. Just sips gas too.

K. Batta 9/23/2009 3:06:06 PM
been on the same model boat with a mercury(Smokey piece), a very nice yamaha f250, and a yamaha 200 hpdi. the evinrude is the best, It performs best, sounds best, got the best fuel economy, the only thing is the throttle housing is terrible, but ive seen that they upgraded to fly by wire. Yamaha had best throttle by far. But I still bought the boat with the 250 etec

T. Sparling 9/23/2009 2:31:58 PM
I have a 2007, 200HO on my 25 Fiesta Tritoon. We use it in the bay and on the gulf almost every weekend and Run the crap out of it. We average 2 MPG, at 35 to 38 MPH. 130 hours so far and has run perfect. Been boating for 40 years and can say this is one of the best outboards Ive ever owned.

S. Welton 9/23/2009 2:16:06 PM
I have re powered my boston whaler 21wa with an 08 200HO etec. I am very happy with this motor overall, fuel economy is great, noise level is exceptional, power is more than great, starts quick and strong. I matched it up with a full array of "i-command" classic digital guages which also display on my Lowrance.

S. Ginn 9/23/2009 2:15:31 PM
I have a 2009 225hp Etec with approximately 50 hours on a 25' pontoon and have been delighted with the performance, fuel economy, easy winterization and particularly like the no maintenance for 300 hours or 3 years. I have previously owned Yamaha and Honda outboards which performed quite well but the Etec has been the best outboard by far that I have owned.

B. Zaring 9/23/2009 1:56:12 PM
I wanted something lite to put on my 17ft.bay-flats boat and went with the etec 90hp. and to date I'm not sorry. It is the easiest starting motor I have ever owned, good on fuel and fast.I don't have alot of hrs.on her yet but so far I'm very impressed with the etec.

R. Hall 9/23/2009 1:46:47 PM
I grew up on the Ft. Pierce Inlet in Florida. I have had and used every major outboard brand over my 56 years. I now have a 300hp Evinrude E-tec on my 24' center console...would not trade it for a 4 stroke for love nor money. I don't care what the "boat test" say, my E-tec goes our typical day of Offshore fishing (8 Hr) on 10 gal of fuel...that's right a 24' Deep V CC with a 300hp outboard. It’s that good. I tried a four stroke on my last boat...it was lack luster...and every time I turned around it was costing money for maintenance. The Four stroke propaganda is a cash cow for outboard dealers. Peddle your 4 stroke to someone who doesn’t know any better. E-tec all the way
