Crestliner CX 19-Fish Like a Pro

    By Capt. Bob Smith

Crestliner’s crew rolled out their 2007 line of boats and boy were they ready to rock. They are going after the bass market and delivering a bass rig that meets the performance and demands of a serious bass fisherman while still saving you money at the bank. The CX 19 has lots of room and as much performance as many of the pro’s boats. This package is a boat, motor, trailer, trolling motor, fish finder/depth finder and engine package delivered at under $18,000.

    Bow Features

The bow casting deck on the CX 19 gives you lots of room to work as well as plenty of storage space for your gear and your sticks. The 46 lb thrust Motor Guide trolling motor is mounted on the port side with a tethered foot control connected in the peak with an engine tilt switch for the primary motor. The locking rod box to the port side has ample room and just forward of the lid is a bungee to strap down your favorite rod. With the 19, there are two boxes to store rods and other gear. Larger gear fits in two more centerline boxes in the casting deck. If you like to sit and cast, the pedestal seat slips into the powder-coated seat base with ease.

    Cockpit Seating

Stepping into the cockpit, there are three-across bench seats that fold down for storage and trailering, and also tilt up on a piano hinge to reveal shallow storage for oars and other flat items. The raised helm has a sport windshield and sets up high enough to provide excellent leg room for the driver. This model has standard rack-and-pinion steering with a three-spoke wheel. The gauges are arched above the wheel. A standard Lowrance X50DS is at the right side of the dash for keeping an eye on the fish and the bottom for the driver. Lighted rocker switches are at the driver’s right hand along with a 12volt charger socket for cell phones and other portable gear and there is a slash pocket to the right for storing your cell phone and wallet.

    More Space to Fish

The aft casting deck provides another excellent space to work your favorite fishing holes. You have great access to all three sides of the boat whether you stand and cast or put the casting chair in the rear-most powder coated seat base in the center of the stern deck. A large lid in the center back part of the deck gives you access to the fuel tank, bilges, cranking battery, and pump. Dry boxes on the port and starboard side have vertical slots to hold Plano style tackle organizer boxes-- Crestliner even gets you started here with three boxes as part of the standard package. Across the forward center section of the aft deck is an aerated divided livewell.

    Specifications

The CX 19 measures 18’9” length overall with a beam width of 90”. She weighs 1250 lbs and can carry as many as 4 people or 1300 lbs of people and gear combined and 22 gallons of fuel. She has an overall depth of 24” and a bottom width of 64”. The aluminum bottom has a gauge of .100 as does its sides and transom. She is available in two colors; Onyx Black or Sport Red with a Silver Bay base color.

    Performance & Handling

I tested the CX 19 on a busy inland lake on a late summer weekend and had plenty of rough water for testing. She handled well and delivered a dry ride. I found this model was on plane quickly at 2.9 seconds and up to 30 mph in just a blazing 6.3 seconds. She cruised most economically at about 25.4 mph and has a range of 105 miles at this speed. She reached a maximum speed of 44.1 mph.

The CX 19 lets you fish like a pro. She has the performance and the features you need to bring in the game while leaving money in the bank for more important things.
