The 510 is a new model that was born through the expertise of three groups—Bertram, Ferretti, and Zuccon International. Now that Bertram has joined forced with the Ferretti Group, Italy’s premier boat manufacturer, the style and engineering of these sportfishmen will be combined with both American and European design.

Bertram’s internationally known name and style will make this sportfisher popular around the world. The 510 moves gracefully through the water as she slices through almost any sea conditions.

The 510 offers state-of-the-art engineering and equipment from the transom to the bow. The cockpit provides generous space for both entertaining and fighting fish. Fishing features include: a freezer, tackle center, an aft gunwale contains a large fish box and there’s a transom door for boating large fish or for easy access to the water. The cockpit sole has three large access hatches for additional storage of gear and equipment. The fighting chair is beautifully designed, and is flanked by firm cockpit coaming bolsters around the cockpit.

The 510’s deep-V hull design ensures first-rate performance in virtually all conditions just as you’d expect from a Bertram. She’s a massive boat that offers grand accommodations.

As you step aboard the 510 you are greeted by a spacious main salon and galley with a U-shaped dinette area. Whomever will be preparing the meals on this boat will have a ball doing so, with Sub-Zero refrigerator, three-burner cooktop, microwave oven, plenty of storage compartments, and designer countertops and sink. With this much working space any chef should be able to create a five-course dinner.

Venturing forward you’ll find three staterooms. The master stateroom is located on the port side of the boat and offers spacious accommodations. A 13-inch TV/VCR and FM/AM stereo with CD player provide some extra entertainment in the cabin. Two other staterooms and two full heads complete the forward tour but not all the exciting features on the new 510. While Bertram has always been known as a fisherman’s boat, the Zuccon design team has created a beautiful, functional interior which women are sure to like. For example, the bathrooms are particularly well executed.

The big news at Bertram is, of course, the fact that Ferretti bought the company in 1998 and a year later had produced three brand new boats from the keel up, including the 510. After many years of this great, old name being owned by companies, which were in other industries, it is a breath of fresh air to have a passionate boatbuilder once again at the helm. And Ferretti has big plans for Bertram and there is not doubt that Bertram is back among the Pantheon of quality American builders.

The boat is powered by twin Caterpillar 812, or twin MAN 1050s. Check out our performance tables for speed and fuel consumption data. The price ranges from about $1 million to about $1.2 million, depending on engines and options.

Overall, the Bertram 510 is a superior performer with good speed, and a laundry list of standard features. She’s a seaworthy boat with time-tested construction and styling that’s guaranteed to last.
