Pursuit OS 355 Offshore running shot
Rigged for fishing, the Pursuit OS 355 Offshore’s deep-V bottom is designed to power through rough water.

Overview

Pursuit’s all-new OS 355 Offshore is designed to expand entertainment and family fishing capabilities of a new boat with proven fishing features. Two main areas — the aft cockpit and the cabin — give fishermen and cruisers separate spaces of concentration, while the helm deck serves to tie them together, bridging the functions with excellent views in every direction, comfortable seating under a protective hardtop, and thoughtful command and control solutions.

The Build.

As expected from Pursuit, the build is rugged and reliable, just what fishermen and their families want when heading offshore. The hull is hand laminated with vinylester resin and engineered fiberglass fabrics used to take maximum advantage of their construction alignments.Hull integrity relies on a resin-infused, molded structural grid system, with integrated bilge water management. The transom is built with a five-ply, resin-infused composite system and a Pursuit-patented reinforcement grid. The one-piece deck and cockpit liner includes molded slip-resistant footing and large overboard drains for fast runoff. Pursuit joins the hull and deck with mechanical fastenings and chemical bonds for long lasting strength.

Notable Features

• Single piece, laminated optically clear windshield for clear sightlines
• Hull extensions with increased stern platform area and ease of water entry with a four step boarding ladder
• Thru-stem anchor system with self-righting swivel, fresh and saltwater washdowns
• Four hull-side fixed windows for improved light below
• Increased splash-well height above waterline for 30” engines
• Engines dry at full tilt up with boat fully laden
• Cockpit laid out for fishing, can be configured for social and dining functions

Features Inspection

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore cockpit
The cockpit is configured for fishing with easy access to the hardtop mounted rocket launchers, bolsters on three sides, and a lighted baitwell near the transom door to port. Note the two aft-facing seats flanking the stairs leading up to the helm deck.

Cockpit Features.

Pursuit boats have a long history of building well-designed and equipped fishing boats. The new OS 355 Offshore continues that tradition, and expands it with more seating features and a dedicated food prep center.Fishing features start with four stainless steel rod holders and two drink holders in the gunwales. There are four rocket launcher rod holders on the standard hardtop supporting aft legs. And there’s under gunwale rod storage port and starboard.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore transom bench
The fold-down transom bench seat is standard equipment. The starboard bench is an option.

A fold-down transom bench seat

is standard. Selecting the optional starboard flip-down bench seat will take away some under gunwale storage. But Pursuit includes rod storage in the mid-cabin below. Both have toe relief when folded up to help fishermen stand closer and lean into bolster pads.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore fold up bench
When the bench seats are folded away, four stainless steel grab rails and thigh-high bolsters come into play. Note the optional transom-mount rod holders.

The cockpit features plenty of wide-open space, and an aggressive slip-resistant surface under foot, for safer, more effective fishing when multiple hookups are experienced. Bolsters are found on both sides of the cockpit, as well as on the inside of the transom not occupied by the livewell. On both sides of the cockpit are insulated in-deck fishboxes, with dedicated discharge pumps, flanking a center mechanical locker. All have stainless steel locking latches, and are held open with gas assist struts for safety. And all feature molded recessed hatches, gaskets, and deep draining channels.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore tackle drawers
A two-drawer tackle center is recessed into the starboard side of the transom.
Pursuit OS 355 Offshore locker
The transom has a centerline locker with a removable bin for storage of all kinds.

Fishing Amenities.

There is a two-drawer tackle center to starboard, recessed into the face of the transom, and a lighted Oceana Blue 28-gallon (106 L) recirculating livewell to port, next to the transom door. In the center of the transom there’s a top-opening locker with removable tray that could do double-duty as a chilled bin for prerigged live bait, or additional general storage. A raw water washdown and a hot/cold fresh water hand held shower are standard features.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore outboards
Aft extensions of the hull support two swim platforms flanking the outboards. There is also a walkable deck area ahead of the splashwell providing access to the starboard swim platform.

Integrated swimming and boarding platforms are a welcome feature. So too is the connecting walkway just abaft the transom and ahead of the splashwell, making it easier to walk between the two platforms when fishing. The splashwell is deep enough that when the engines are tilted up, the lower legs are completely above the water, even when the boat is fully laden.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore cylinders
Two stainless steel gas assist cylinders hold the mechanical room locker safely open.

Mechanical Access.

In the center of the cockpit sole is a large hatch leading to a mechanical room. This area houses the standard 8 kW Fischer Panda diesel genset in a sound shield (served by a separate 24-gallon/91 L diesel fuel tank), bronze sea strainers for the raw water pump and the livewell pump, a fresh water pump, and fuel filters for the outboards — all within easy reach. There’s also a molded sump with a 900 gph bilge pump with a float switch, and one 1,500 gph bilge pump with a high water float switch and alarm.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore grill
The electric grill includes a spatter guard, a cutting board, storage below, and a 120-volt outlet. As can be seen, this BBQ helps quench everyone’s hunger when it’s time to eat.

Entertaining Aspects

With the standard twin aft facing seats and forward facing folding transom bench, seen earlier, plus the option to add another folding bench to starboard, the cockpit can quickly become a comfortable space for entertaining. The portside locker forward contains a molded sink with hot/cold pressure fresh water, an electric grill with a spatter guard, a cutting board, storage below, and a 120-volt outlet. This is a better idea than using the bait prep area for food, seen too often on some fishing boats.A custom molded cockpit table with dedicated storage is available, an option that makes entertaining more relaxed. There’s an optional canvas Bimini that rolls out under power to cover the entire cockpit. And on the foredeck, accessible by two steps leading up to the side decks, there’s an optional sun pad.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore helm
The raised bridge deck offers outstanding views to the helmsman and guests alike. Note the molded two-level footrest that flips down to offer a raised deck.

Helm Deck Features

Two steps up lead to the raised helm deck, with an L-shaped lounge to port and a well-designed helm console to starboard. Views all around are very good, particularly through the new optically clear one-piece laminated and tempered forward windshield.

Two heavy-duty pantographic wipers

with washers handle spray or rain. There is an electrically actuated center vent window to improve airflow on warm days, Stratoglass curtains, and available air conditioning. The helm seat swivels and adjusts fore and aft, and has a flip-up bolster, as well as flip up armrests. The molded two-level footrest beneath the wheel is hinged to flip down and provide a raised deck level for those who want a higher vantage point.

Instruments and Controls

The dash

is laid out for twin 15” MFDs ahead under a stitched brow, and the 12-volt switches are within easy reach to the left of the wheel, and there are two 12-volt power outlets and one dual USB charger port there, as well.A flat for the bow thruster joystick to the left of the tilting stainless steel wheel, and a dual-lever binnacle to the right of the wheel that leaves room for an optional joystick control.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore lounge
The L-shaped lounge has backrests all around, including forward when a guest prefers to sit with outstretched legs and good views aft.
Pursuit OS 355 Offshore refrigerator
The 1.3 cu. ft. refrigerator/freezer on the helm deck for quick access to refreshments.

On the helm deck, there is also a 1.3 cu. ft. refrigerator/freezer just behind the captain’s seat to minimize the need to go below often for drinks, and an entertainment center with Bluetooth compatibility with four premium speakers in the hardtop.

Cabin Features

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore interior
Looking aft, there is a good view of the enclosed head compartment to starboard, the mid-cabin beneath the forward part of the helm deck, and the port side galley. Note the grab rail to the right of the stairs.

There’s an acrylic sliding door leading from the helm deck to the cabin interior, as well as a sliding screen door for those days when natural ventilation is preferable to the standard 16,000 BTU air conditioning/reverse cycle heating. A flush-mounted opening foredeck hatch and two stainless steel opening ports, both with screens, add to the potential cross-ventilation.

A three-step teak and stainless steel ladder

leads down to the open cabin. The layout includes a normal-, people-sized enclosed head compartment to starboard, a mid-cabin berth below the forward part of the helm deck, a galley to port, and a forward dinette that converts electronically into a V-berth.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore mid cabin
The mid-cabin is open to the rest of the interior, with a full size berth and rod storage.

The mid-cabin

has a 6” thick, full size mattress in a solid wood base. There is headroom on the port side for standing and dressing. The bulkhead aft is equipped with four rod holders.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore dinette lounge
Looking forward, the in-hull windows bring more light into the lounge and dinette. With the press of a button, the table drops down and the fixed seats come together to form a queen-size V-berth.

Beautiful tongue-and-groove hardwood floors add charm and beauty to the cabin interior. Pursuit, and its sister company Tiara, have a heritage of fine woodworking that stretches back to the furniture building craftsmen in the S2 Yachts headquarters in Holland, Michigan.

Storage

Beneath the centerline locker

, there’s 7.5 cu. ft. of storage space. Pursuit includes a digital-media-ready entertainment system with two speakers and a 28” LED television, mounted on the forward facing bulkhead of the head compartment. There are forward outboard storage compartments, gunwale storage shelves, and a cedar-lined hanging locker to help keep everything in its place and off the cushions.

Pursuit OS 355 Offshore galley
The compact galley is designed and equipped to handle day cruising entertainment or week-long family cruising.

Galley Features.

Corian counter tops and Maple drawers are standouts in the compact galley. The standard appliances include a 12-volt stainless steel 4.6 cu. ft. refrigerator, a 1.1 cu. ft. 120-volt microwave oven, and a 240-volt dual burner glass cooktop. The stainless steel sink with Corian cover is expected, but the unexpected is the pantry storage locker with hardwood keepers and positive door locks on each opening.

Performance

We have not tested this boat.During factory sea trials in September 2015, Pursuit recorded a 28.1 mph efficient cruising speed at 4000 rpm with twin 350-hp Yamaha 4-stroke engines. At those sea trials, the builder measured a fuel burn of 29.6 gph at that cruising speed, with a predicted range of 331 statute miles, based on a 90% fuel capacity. Wide open throttle (WOT) speed during the trials was 46.8 mph.
