Brief Summary
DF 250 The award-winning DF 250 is the ultimate outboard in Suzuki’s four-stroke model line. It’s their largest displacement engine (3,614mm/220.5 cu. in.) and holds the industry record to date for the greatest power to weight ratio. It is also the lightest motor of this size among comparable 4-strokes.
The DF 250’s impressive power numbers are in part due to a two-stage gear reduction system. The first stage (32:40) lies between the crankshaft and the driveshaft and the second stage (12:22) is in the lower unit. Together, these give the engine an overall ratio of 2.29 which is the largest gear ratio in outboards over 200-hp. A specially designed 16-inch propeller is optional and much larger than the 14 1/2-inch version found on Suzuki’s 2-stroke DT225.
A counter rotation model, the DF 250Z is available in 25 and 30-inch transom lengths, useful for the Deep-V offshore fishing boats.
