The Bavaria 39 Sport has an LOA of 38'8" (11.80), a beam of 13'1" (3.99 m) and a draft of 3'6" (1.05 m) with the gear down. Displacement is 18,040 lbs. (8,200 kg.) dry.
The Mission of the Bavaria 39 Sport
Bavaria builds 11 powerboat models in 9 different sizes from 32' to 49' and the 39 Sport falls roughly in the middle. As such, she is clearly intended for a family on its way up, one that wants max room below for spending cozy evenings aboard. She is also intended to be a good boat to entertain on, and to that end 12 people can be accommodated in the cockpit when she is used as a day boat.
Looking aft we can see the boat seats 12 people, eight at the table and four elsewhere.
●High Freeboard. The Bavaria 39 probably has one of the highest freeboards in class which makes her dry, able to buck into short, steep seas without being intimidated, and gives her lots of headroom below.
●Headroom Galore. The headroom below ranges from 6'10-1/2" (7.10 m) to 7'1" (2.18 m).
●Max Cube Below. Whether one calculates in cubic feet or cubic meters, the 39 Sport is big below. Without putting too fine a point on it, the 39 Sport's accommodations area is about 44 cubic meters or 1574 cubic feet.
●Dark or Light Wood Interior. Only a few builders give consumers of a choice or interior woods and Bavaria is one of them. The traditionalists will probably opt for the dark wood and the rest will want the optional brighter wood which is light oak.

Major Advantage of the 39 Sport
Staying Dry. We say when selecting a boat, just like picking trump in bridge, go for the long suit. In this case it is the boat's sea-keeping ability thanks to her high freeboard combined with her room below which is as much or more than any boat this size.
It is not surprising that a German boat builder would design a boat to handle the English Channel, North Sea and bodies of water like the Skagerrak between Denmark and Norway that can be sloppy when the wind is howling out of the west. Her high freeboard should keep her cockpit dry in all but the worse conditions.

CE "B" Rating. Meets European requirements for a "B" rating, which means she should be able to handle offshore conditions up to, and including, wind force 8 and wave height up to, and including, 13.0 ft.
The optional camper cover will greatly increase the utility of the boat. The bow thruster is optional, too.
Buttoned Up. Cruising canvas is an option for the 39 Sport, and northern Europeans intending to cruise the Baltic, the Coast of Norway, or the British isles would do well to consider this inexpensive way to add living space to the boat and stay cozy as well.
For boaters elsewhere in the world, even in places like Florida and the tropics, cruising canvas comes in handy when piloting the boat offshore when caught in a rain storm. In the morning there is often a chill in the air and this option makes the cockpit cozy.
A/C Option. The 39 Sport is not just for northern latitudes. She is just as seaworthy in the Med or the Caribbean where seas can be just as challenging as anywhere else. Bavaria offers a 10,000 BTU A/C (not reverse cycle) system to cool the boat below. Duct work is directed to both the salon/galley below and the mid cabin.

Bavaria knows that virtually every owner will want to use the boat for a slightly different purpose so it offers an extensive options list. Further, just like the car companies, it offers "packages" of options for several functions.
The Bavaria 39 HT is following the trend in express cruisers.
Bavaria 39 Hardtop
There is also a 39 Hardtop model available. Essentially it is the same boat below and in the cockpit, with the addition of a fiberglass hardtop with sunroof and side windows with opening ports. The forward windscreen is a single piece of safety glass and the forward mullions of are moderate size. We imagine that this will be a popular model as there seems to be a trend these days toward hardtop express cruisers.

The galley comes standard with basic equipment but we suspect that most owners will want to specify their own options.
This is a view of the head compartment. Note that there is a mirror at the left of the picture on the bulkhead. A shower door between the separate stall and the rest of the head is an option.
Bavaria is trying to offer good value for money and it looks to us as if they are doing a pretty good job of it.
We are told that Bavaria is coming to North America this year.
The extended swim platform is an option, see below. The boat's 13' beam is put to good use with two sunpads, table seating for 8 and a double-wide companion seat. We don't recommend using the aft sunpad while under way.
