Tracker Pro Team 170 TX Captain's Report
Tracker Pro Team 170 TX Anniversary Edition
By Capt. Rob Smith
Tracker’s 30th Anniversary Edition of the Pro Team 170 is an all welded Revolution hull is designed for a smooth ride and fishability. They brought back some of the Heritage graphics combining some of the old colors with the new colors of Tracker. The full length longitudinal stringer system and all aluminum stern mean you should be able to count on this boat to serve you well for decades.
Measurements
This model measures out at 16’4” length overall with a beam width of 81”. Her all aluminum hull weighs about 807 lbs. and is capable of handling up to a 50-hp outboard on her stern. Fuel capacity is 18 gallons and she has room for up to 4 persons, seating for three and a maximum weight capacity of 860lbs people and gear. Part of the package is a custom factory matched trailer with GalvaShield protection, EZ lube hubs and swing-away tongue with retractable safety cables.
Foredeck
Starting up front, the preferred casting deck has a 12V 46 lb. thrust MotorGuide trolling motor with fixed position foot control in the center next to the casting chair location. There is a step pad on the bow, so hopping on board from the trailer or as your buddy edges up to the dock is safer. There is lots of storage in the bow with matching port and starboard boxes. The center box is designed to store rods up to 7’ long held in place with bungee cords and locked up for security.
In the Driver’s Seat
The helm station has been reworked a bit with new switches and instrument panels in a one-piece fully molded console. The instruments are set in an aluminum looking panel spicing up the looks. The low profile windshield is removable so you can fit in the garage easier. The steering wheel is a fixed position three spoke wheel. To the right is a standard Lowrance X 37 fishfinder with surface temperature monitor to help you spot the perfect place for the prize fish.
Three-Across Seating
The new seating arrangement has three-across seating. I thought it was really cool thinking when I lifted up the seats for storage, but folded the center seat down to have an armrest with twin drink holders for my morning coffee or afternoon cold drink.
Aft Deck
Even though I prefer to fish from the bow, the fisherman in back has a great spot as well. First is the dividable livewell in the center. You have room to set up a casting chair in the center. This boat is built with the Easy Fill fuel system for simple fueling. Across the aft edge is an access lid to reach the batteries, fuel tank and connections.
