Pershing was started in 1985 with the immediate success of their 45-footer. As an Italian boat Pershings have a distinct style and character, and from a distance you cannot mistake them. With her sleek design and European flair, the Pershing is one of most beautiful boats on that water today.
Both impressive and graceful the Pershing 54 is an incredible example of what fine European craftsmanship and advanced European technology can produce. With just a glance the smooth and seductive European lines are evident from bow to stern implying speed and sophistication.
The cockpit is fully enclosed and air-conditioned with finely fitted wrap around seating with storage beneath. There’s also a wet bar, grill, storage and icemaker at your disposal. For those sunny days you can retract the convertible roof and enjoy the fresh air. Other notable and unique feature of the cockpit is the one-piece windshield, power side windows, and engine room access through the floor hatch.
The helm is a superb combination of full instrumentation, top shelf electronics, and various circuit breakers and controls. The flip up panel is most impressive and usually is only found on much larger yachts. This vessel features Arneson surface drives that are more efficient and produce faster top end speeds. Toggle switches control the attitude of the drives while under way and when in the up position produce a head turning rooster tail behind the boat.
Notable features on the 54 include a retractable aft deck sun shade, the high grade stainless steel pop up cleats, the neatly hidden aft cleats with tailing winches, the aft sunpad, and the aft deck boarding passarelle that is traditionally used in Europe for vessels moored using a Mediterranean style mooring.
The salon is tasteful blend of elegance and practicality utilizing every conceivable space for storage or comfort. The salon table converts to full size when entertaining a number of guests. The salon ceiling is most unique with directional lighting and a centered porthole. To starboard the galley is hidden beneath luxurious wood counter tops and cabinets that reveal a complete food preparation area, sinks, ample storage, and a microwave oven. A refrigerator/ freezer combination are both appointed in elegant stainless steel. The master stateroom is forward with a pedestal bed centered amidships, an ensuite head with full standing shower, and an oversize hanging closet to starboard.
The guest stateroom is just aft of the salon and to starboard featuring twin berths. The guest head is just aft of the salon and to port. Most notable is the aft VIP stateroom with entry from the cockpit. It features its own ensuite head with shower, full hanging closets, and its own stainless steel appointed refrigerator.
The Pershing 54 is as impressive out on the test track as it is in every other detail. Powered by twin MAN 1200 hp engines, the 54 cruised effortlessly at 3500 RPM producing a speed of 36 MPH and burning 75 gallons per hour. At that speed this vessel has a 350-mile range based on the 800-gallon fuel capacity. Her top end speed was clocked at 56 MPH at 2250 RPM and is undoubtedly a result of the Arneson surface piercing drives that out perform any conventional drive system. The vessel also performed very well under high speed maneuvers tracking solidly through the turns and holding a steady course
