Helios was the Greek god of sun, and he may be one of the few souls that don't care for the Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 because it offers so much shade, a valuable commodity on the water. But for the rest of us, getting out of the sun, to say nothing of the rain or cold have its advantages. For people who live on northern lakes where the weather can tunr of a dime, or it gets cool at sundown, the Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 may be the solution. Let's take a look at this unusual toon.
Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 (2011-) Captain's Report
The Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 has a LOA of 33'7" (10.2 m) but still maintains a trailerable 8'6" (2.6 m) beam. Package weight is approx 7,554 lbs (3,426kg).
Captain's Report by Capt. Steve
A Shady Layout
Because of my fair skin I like a lot of shade, but there has to be a balance between sun and shade or I'll end up on the boat alone. The Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 seems to allow for this option with an open and airy top deck that is protected only by a collapsible Bimini top.
While the Greeks didn't have a god of shade, if they did, he/she would be right at home down below. The helm, a galley, the dinette, a wet head, and an aft deck gathering area are all covered under an umbrella of protection from not only Helios himself, but from the other summer bummer… rain.
For the guests who do want to experience all that the great outdoors has to offer, there are two large sofa/loungers at the bow, both with the requisite storage underneath. I also like that these loungers are facing each other which keeps the conversations warmer.
Here you can see the multiple gathering areas, and how only the forward seats are left exposed to the sun. The dinette and aft bench seat both convert to berths if you want to do an overnight on the hook, an idea that is enhanced by the galley allowing an inviting breakfast to start the day.
Fully aft is another intimate gathering area with a bench seat and two comfortable pedestal seats. There's also a pedestal table here so bring out the drinks and snacks. Since the Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 holds 15 people it stands to reason that there will be kids onboard, and that's fine with this boat. Not only is she a great swimming and diving platform, but there's even a slide from the top deck. So let the adults discuss and gather, the kids will be in the water having a great day. Back at the dock, the party can continue, and if it gets too hot, the standard air-conditioning fed from shore power will keep the mood cool.
The 2" (5.08 cm) top rails add looks as well as safety. The slide offers an entrance to the water that's well clear of the outboard (obviously the motor should be turned off, anyway.) The cabin is made of insulated bulkheads for three-season boating.
Notice the water outlet at the top of the wet-slide. The kids will also get a great view before being launched into the drink.
The galley includes a microwave, fridge, and sink tapped into the 10 gallon (37.9L) freshwater system. The counters are all composite material for longer life and resistance to staining. Notice all the windows are opening for flow-through ventilation.
While the visibility from the helm could use a little work, the proximity to the galley and dinette makes the captain part of the gathering while underway. When not underway, the helm seat swivels to face the music as the fun continues. Notice the shades over the windows for spending overnights. Full instrumentation, including a depth gauge, is standard on the fiberglass reinforced helm station. But I'd rather Sun Tracker mount an engine control on the bulkhead, just ahead of an armrest and on the horizontal.
A sliding door keeps the A/C in or the kids out… your call, it's lockable. The dinette converts to a berth, and Sun Tracker doesn't slouch on the cushions. These are incredibly soft seats. The marine grade carpet is 28 oz. (.79 kg), the upholstery is 30 oz. (.85 kg). “Hi gramps.”
The aft deck is still under the extended overhead and it makes a great place to relax while keeping an eye on the kids. “Hi Mom and Dad.”
The aft bench seat converts to a berth. You'll definitely want to add a decal or two to the glass doors. Note the high 2" (5.08 cm) rails again. With all of the gathering areas on the same deck it's good that Sun Tracker provided doors that allow you to see from stem to stern.
Truly Sun Tracker built a pontoon boat that does a good job of pleasing the most people in the most cost effective way. With a no hassle, no haggle bottom line of $49,295 with a Mercury 115-hp four-stroke EFI (less prep and freight), the Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 is also just a shade on the affordable side.
With an 8’ 6’’ beam this cruiser is trailerable. You can explore one lake after another. And at night if the bugs come out, you can go inside. We think the Sun Tracker Party Cruiser 32 makes a great starter houseboat or floating cottage. And the price is hard to beat.
