With good offshore fishing capabilities and accommodations for up to six, the 290 Amberjack has a good thing going. The 290's vented chine hull design gives the boat better maneuverability at high speeds and helps deliver optimum performance.

The 290 is a perfect day or weekend cruiser.
The 290 Amberjack offers a lot of comfort and amenities. She has a good-size cockpit with a double helm seat with flip up thigh-rise bolster. The helm offers a burlwood instrument panel with a high
The galley offers good room to work.
The galley features a dual-voltage refrigerator, microwave, fiberglass countertops with a sink and cutting board. There’s also good storage space above and below the countertops.
The owner's stateroom is quite spacious.
The 290 Amberjack has sleeping accommodations for 4 adults with a V-berth, and small aft cabin. The dinette area sits four comfortably with its plush leather seats.
Spacious head with vanity.
The head on the 290 is quite roomy with shower separated by a curtain, a Vacuflush toilet, mirrored vanity and sink.
The 290 Amberjack can be fished hard and you don’t have to sacrifice accommodations or cruising room either. She gets her stability from the 10 ½ foot beam and 11,300 lbs of displacement she carries. The 290 Amberjack jumped right out of the hole in just 5.2 seconds, and we liked the fact that she didn’t ship any water when coming down off plane.
The 290’s cabin is designed to sleep up to six. Two in the forward berth, two in the dinette area, that coverts to a double berth, and two kids in the midcabin, which is also handy for storage. There’s also a fully enclosed head, which adds up to a lot of accommodations for a 29-footer. The galley comes complete with fiberglass countertops, a dual voltage refrigerator, two-burner electric stove, microwave and sink.
Our test boat had a pair of 260-hp MerCruiser 5.7L EFI sterndrives mounted atop the stringers for maximum strength. During our test the 290 came in just under 45 mph at wide-open throttle and her best cruise at 3000 rpm yielded a cruising speed of 27.7 mph.
In all, the 290 Amberjack is a nice mix between a fishing boat and a cruiser. It has the space for plenty of company and the fishing features for good offshore capability.
