Doral 210 Escape Captain's Report

Tested By Capt. Bob Smith

While the Canadian summer may be shorter, it still can rival my home temperature and “feels like” sweat inducing feeling I get in Tampa. I still enjoyed going to Doral’s Marina and the hospitality and commitment from the Doral staff. They were dedicated to making sure that we found the boats in good shape, clean and ready. They also made sure we enjoyed our visit. They were successful on both counts. Doral boats are coming together very well and rival some of the best I have seen. They are working to deliver a boat that leads its competition in fit and finish.

Design and Layout

Doral uses 316 grade stainless steel for longevity and performance in its gunwale molding, cleats and ski tow eyes as well as other marine hardware. Doral uses a cored hull construction technique and integrated fiberglass liner and hand lay-up construction for durability and long life.

The integrated swim platform has a nice non-skid surface for safety and a three step stainless telescoping boarding ladder. The aft sunpad has a walkthrough for access to the cockpit. The full aft wrap-around bench seating is plush deluxe upholstery with textured inserts for an elegant feel. You have storage under the benches for small items and life jackets.

Wood accents add to the elegance around the cockpit and dash. Adjustable swivel bucket seats give you great view forward and allow you to join in on the conversation when at anchor. A lockable glove box keeps your wallet secure and dry. Courtesy lights light up the floor for safe movement at night. Stainless cup holders keep the beverages close to everyone and the lined ski locker in the floor keeps the toys within easy reach.

At the Helm

The helm has a sporty three spoke tilt steering wheel with heavy duty power steering. Deluxe gauges have night lighting for safe view underway at night. A twelve volt receptacle is available for charging cell phones and powering portable equipment. A nice Clarion AM/FM, CD player keeps the tunes going for the entire outing. Up in the forward section, you have a handy cuddy cabin with a large hatch with screen for ventilation. Directional cabin lights help you see at night and the V-berth has storage beneath. Our model had a pump out head for convenience. When you are ready to personalize your model, you can choose from over thirty items.

The 210 Escape from Doral measures 21’4” long, 23’10” with the swim platform. She is 8’6” in the beam and carries up to 54 gallons of fuel for a long day on the water.. Performance

When we tested the 210 Escape, we had temperatures in the 70’s with about a 10knot wind and 1 foot of chop. Our test model had a 260hp MerCruiser 5.0 MPI gas sterndrive with Alpha One outdrive and Black Max Prop. We tested her with two people on board and ¾ tank of fuel on board. We idled out of the long entrance to the Doral Marina into the open bay. When we tested for hole shot performance we got a 3.9 seconds response. She is pretty fast for her size with a 0-30 performance of 8.3 seconds. She cruises nicely at 3000rpms and 28.2mph. At cruise, she burns 7.3 gallons per hour for a range of 187 miles. She tops out at 5600rpms and 48.7mph and a burn rate of 18.7 gallons per hour. At top speed, she will give you a range of 127 miles on a full tank of fuel.
