The 210 Sunquest boasts many standard features like 316 grade stainless steel fittings throughout. Up in the foredeck our boat had optional docking lights and scuff plate for night approaches and protecting the hull from damage at the winch. The anchor locker had line leads cut out in it which is smart so the cleated line stays in the locker with it shut.

Bow seating was plentiful and the storage underneath was finished in the same bright gel coat as the exterior. A rise in the floor going forward was a bit of a stumble hazard, but once you know it’s there, you just remember to step up. Under the forward area is a huge locker for kneeboards, wakeboards and other water toys.

Features Aboard

The companion pod area on my test boat has an optional sink with pressure water, glove box with 12VDC socket inside for your phone and a stainless cup holder for your drink. This one also had a nice Clarion marine stereo system. The pump switch and the docking light switch are together on the right side of the pod. That makes the docking light switch an extra reach for the driver, but again, once you know it is there, you adapt. The bucket seat was comfortable and adjusted for swivel to maintain a ski watch or face forward.

Behind the Wheel

A matching helm seat also has swivel adjustments so they can join in on the conversation at anchor. The helm has a nice non-glare brow over burlwood accented Faria gauges which were easy to read underway. Having a standard digital depth gauge is becoming an industry standard, but is still much appreciated as a safety item.

The cockpit on my test boat had optional snap-in carpet for easy clean up after a day of boating and is much cooler in the hot sun of the summer. U-shaped stern seating wraps from the companion seat all the way around to the helm seat. Tons of storage space is underneath the benches. My test ride had nice stainless steel grab rails with burlwood accents inset in the seat backs for the stern bench riders.

At the Transom

The sun pad doubles as the engine hatch and rises easily, supported by gas-assist struts. There is plenty of room, but you get more. Flip the center stern bench forward for additional access to service points. Our test boat had the extended swim platform with pop-up cleats and four-step swim ladder. Up on the integrated portion is a wet locker for wet tow lines or other gear. Our test boat also had the optional stereo remote to maintain good control of the tunes while back at the swim platform.

Specs

Doral’s Sunquest for 2005 measures in at 21’0” length overall and has a beam width of 8’6”. She weighs in at 3,764 pounds with a 5-liter sterndrive for power. She has a draft of 19” with the drive up and 34” with the drive down, so you should be able to enjoy your favorite beaches and shores along the way. She carries a fuel capacity of 54 gallons. Doral offers either MerCruiser or Volvo power plants ranging from a 260-hp MerCruiser 5.0L MPI Alpha to either a MerCruiser 350 Mag Bravo One or Three; or a Volvo 5.7 Penta Gxi Dual Prop, all with 320-hp ratings.

Performance and Ride

I ran the 210 out on a blustery afternoon with some pretty good chop. She delivered a solid dry ride and the seats provided good protection from the thumping the water was giving us. I found she was running 31.6mph at 2500 rpm and burning 6.9gph at this rate. This would give you about 224 miles on a full tank of fuel. At wide open throttle, she ran a top speed of 53.6mph turning 4500 rpm with a fuel burn of 22.1gph. The 210 was quickly on plane in just 3.4 seconds and up to 30 mph in 6.3 seconds.
